Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

Chapter 801 - Jingxi, Come Save Me!

“…”

Yi Jingxi gripped his phone and his fingers were trembling.

The man asked over the line, “Mr. Yi, are you still there?”

“Why didn’t you find out about this when I asked you to investigate back then?” Yi Jingxi’s voice was low over the phone.

“Many of Xu Zhengxuan’s students from twenty years ago had left the country, either that or they have moved to other cities. The only people I managed to interview were the other professors that worked with Xu Zhengxuan then… you had limited funds to investigate the matter too… I flew over to Japan personally this time to talk to your mother’s classmate and the classmate hooked me up with some other acquaintances as well…”

Yi Jingxi hung up before he could finish. He walked around the ward like he was in a daze and suddenly smashed his phone against the wall. His phone cracked into pieces. One of the fragments hit one of Zeng Zhun’s pant legs as he walked in.

He was stunned but he was used to these scenes. It was normal for Yi Jingxi to lose his temper these days, his emotions were volatile and aggressive. He had already broken several handsets.

“Mr. Yi, you have yet to recover, you shouldn’t get so agitated.” Zeng Zhun picked up the phone pieces.

Yi Jingxi was silent. He slowly stooped down and buried his handsome face into his knees and started pounding on his head. Zeng Zhun watched him as his shoulders trembled, he was shocked, he wasn’t sure if he was seeing right. He had seen Yi Jingxi lose his temper countless times but this was different. Even his shadow reflected his desperation and agony.

“Where’s my mom? Where is Chu Lei?” Yi Jingxi looked up abruptly, his eyes were bloodshot and his expression was contorted.

“I’m not sure, I only just arrived.” Zeng Zhun was taken aback by his gaze and backed away a little. “She might be filling out the discharge forms just now.”

Yi Jingxi suddenly dashed out of the ward in a hurry.

He ran to the registration counter but there was no one there so he had to run back to the ward. Only Zeng Zhun was there. “She’s not back yet?”

“Nope.” Zeng Zhun shook his head.

Yi Jingxi suddenly recalled Mo Jin’s warning that day and his heart sank. “Ask around for Mo Jin the shareholder’s number.”

Zeng Zhun responded quickly and he called the office to obtain the number.

Yi Jingxi dialed the number using Zeng Zhun’s phone and Mo Jin’s light chuckle could be heard over the phone. “You reacted pretty quickly, seems like you didn’t become stupid after getting beaten up.”

“Where’s my mother?” Yi Jingxi asked in a low voice.

“Jingxi, come save me!” Chu Lei’s screams could be heard over the phone.

“Be quiet,” someone said menacingly.

“Auntie Mo, if you are looking to vent your anger somewhere, you can come after me.” Yi Jingxi inhaled sharply, “I don’t care how many people you are going to hire to beat me up, I’m willing to be beaten to death by you.”

“So you’re the one who beat my son up,” Chu Lei screamed, “You should come after me.”

Annoyed, Mo Jin said coldly, “Shut up.” She spoke into the phone again, “Don’t call me auntie, I’m just chatting with your mother. I haven’t been back that long so we’re just catching up like old times. Playing some tennis, your mother used to do that with Xu Zhengxuan a lot as well. Since he’s in jail now, I’ll accompany her instead.”

“Auntie, if you want to play tennis, tell me your address, allow me to accompany you.”

“…Alright, your mother might be tired after a few games, I don’t want to have to send her back. You should come alone; I don’t like unnecessary company.”
