Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

She liked him, and he reciprocated her feelings. They were of a suitable age, so it was worth a shot.

The only regret was the downcast weather, making the situation a lot less romantic then he had hoped, almost kind of pathetic. But he still thought it would be good to confirm their relationship then It would be an unforgettable experience, no doubt.

He lips quivered but Luosang interjected before he could vocalize his thoughts, “This is too much Mr. Nian, who do you take me for?” She was fuming as she busied herself wiping her lips.

Recalling what he had done, forcing himself onto her, she was angry and embarrassed. “How dare you kiss me like that!”

“Come on, I know how you feel,” Nian Junting picked up the umbrella to shelter her, “I’ll take responsibility for kissing you.”

Luosang was taken aback, responsibility?

“Yup, don’t you fancy me? Let’s date then, will you happy with that?” Nian Junting’s strong sense of self-assurance cracked Luosang up as she broke into a chuckle.

“Who said that I fancied you? I’m telling you now that I don’t like you that way,” she wiped the rainwater off her face and continued, “I don’t want to date you, Mr. Nian, I hope you don’t get the wrong idea.”

“I already told you that I’ll date you, what more do you want? Enough with playing hard to get,” Nian Junting was looking very grave. She should be jumping into his embrace by now, coupled with a passionate smooch.

“Look, I’m not playing hard to get,” Luosang thought she had already made things clear enough.

She tried to clarify herself again, “Mr. Nian, I admitted to liking you only because you assumed that I wanted some sort of relationship with you. You’re my boss and I’m your subordinate, so I didn’t want to make you look bad. I didn’t want to stay as a translator because I wanted to further my studies. If I was frank with you then, you would have questioned my age and hence, I chose to admit to having feelings for you. I did what I had to do to avoid complicating matters. You are not my type and I’ve never thought of you as anything more. Really, I swear.”

Nian Junting looked at her in shock, and then he looked doubtful, “That’s impossible, stop lying to yourself.”

Luosang thought the whole situation was ridiculous, “Mr. Nian, you do know that narcissism is an illness, right? Maybe you should get it checked out.”

“I’m not ill, there’s nothing not to like about me. I know! Do you find my background too intimidating? Does it cause an inferiority complex, or perhaps, a feeling of unworthiness?” Nian Junting’s face was turning dark with worry.

Luosang was frustrated, “Mr. Nian, I know that you are rich and successful. Not to mention, extremely handsome and kind to me. But it takes feelings to like someone, I just don’t see you that way and I don’t harbor any feelings like that for you. If I like someone, I’ll court them myself, I won’t play hard to get, that’s just not my style.”

Nian Junting had his eyes locked on hers, her pupils were calm and earnest, she didn’t seem to be joking around…

She really didn’t fancy me that way?

It was all my own delusions?

All these days of internal struggle were all for nothing?
