Growing Fond of You, Mr Nian

Chapter 1165 - I Don't Feel Well When I Can't See You

A trace of guilt appeared on Nian Xi’s face.

She did lie when she rejected him.

She wanted him to stop pursuing her.

When she saw him being taken away by the police at the airport, however, she regretted it.

“I’m sorry…”

“It’s okay.” Standing in front of her, he grinned happily like a little boy.

Nian Xi was amazed. She had no idea why he was so happy. “Back in France… You were put in jail… Were you okay? I was going to wait for you to come out, but my director made me come back together with my colleagues.”

Hearing that, Jiang Yuning felt even happier.

It turned out that she wasn’t cold and heartless.

“It was good. I just felt unwell when I couldn’t see you…”

After saying that, he dropped his head again.

Nian Xi couldn’t help but want to reach out again to rub his head.

“Then I thought about it and realized that not seeing you was actually a good thing. If I did see you, you’d be in there too,” said Jiang Yuning in a low voice.

Her heart melted. She hurriedly said, “Just eat. Food doesn’t taste as good when it gets cold.”

Jiang Yuning soon finished the food he ordered, leaving Nian Xi to finish up alone.

He watched her eat the crawfish–one after another. He couldn’t help but furrow his eyebrows. At last, he reached out his hand and dragged the serving plate toward himself.

Nian Xi paused with surprise. She recalled how Nian Junting attentively removed the crawfish shells for Luosang back when he was still pursuing her. As Nian Junting’s little sister, she was honestly jealous of Luosang.

‘He’s not going to remove the crawfish shells for me, is he?’ She wondered.

Is he so smart?

Her eyes glowed as she started anticipating what would happen next.

She pretended not to know anything but asked him, “Why did you take away the plate? I haven’t finished yet.”

Jiang Yuning shook his head and said, “Crawfish aren’t healthy. They live in extremely dirty water. My father used to run experiments on them. Their bodies contain heavy metals and parasites. I assume you’ve never seen those parasites under a microscope. Crawfishes are as dirty as the dirtiest trash bin in the world…”

“Enough. Stop…” On hearing that, Nian Xi even had her face turn blue. “I thought you’d remove the shell for me, but instead, you told me not to eat it. This is awful.”

“I’m saying this for your good.” Looking at her serious face, Jiang Yuning explained with a grievance, “They’re really dirty. The restaurants hardly clean them. My father has shown me the news. They clean the crawfish with some kind of powder, which is actually a type of oxalic acid often used in factories. That is highly harmful to human beings. For the worst case…”

“Alright, alright,” Nian Xi waved a hand to stop him. Having a meal together with a scientist could be troublesome. In terms of food safety, Jiang Yuning was a little similar to Nian Junting. “First of all, these crawfish are farmed, not as dirty as the wild ones. Second, I don’t eat them every single day. This is the first time this month. Eating them occasionally won’t make me ill, will it? Also, if I can’t eat them in restaurants, where else would I be eating them? Will you cook crawfish for me?”

Jiang Yuning popped his eyes, looked at her and said with a muffled voice, “I don’t know how.”

Nian Xi stayed silent, then pulled the plate of crawfish back in front of her, and said, “Don’t stop me from eating here then. If you say one more unnecessary word, I won’t come out and eat with you again.”

“Again?” Jiang Yuning’s eyes glowed. “Will we do this again?”

Nian Xi felt a little embarrassed. “Did I say that this will be the only time?”

“No, you didn’t,” Jing Yuning blinked and said shyly.
