Godlike Player in a Game-Like World

227 Mutual bargaining (Part 2)

Cael started talking again after there was a brief pause, having realized that Raydon was not going to provide an easy response to this question. ''Tomorrow, we will officially announce that you are one of the family heirs. '' Finally, he made his offer.

''Should I be impressed by this? '' Raydon simply scoffed.

To begin, Cael's offer worked out better for them than it did for Raydon, which was in line with what they wanted to accomplish anyway. By accepting Raydon into their family in any case, they set out to build a relationship with the person they regarded as high-rank.

''You are aware that there are a great number of people in this world who would sacrifice everything to be a member of a ruling family, are you not? '' Elara, Arden's wife said with a frown.

Raydon couldn't help but laugh at this. "I wonder what you sacrificed as one of those people."

Elara was unable to keep her cool in the face of this response, and she let out an angry shout, "Who do you think you are speaking with me like this?"

She was one of those battle maids who had been brought up by the family, and it goes without saying that she made many sacrifices in order to sit where she is right now. However, the manner in which Raydon struck her in the face involuntarily provoked her anger.

''We'll let you select one blue-grade item from the family's treasure. '' After Zephyr had endured the foolishness of the others for a certain amount of time, he decided to make an offer of his own.

Raydon was already a legal heir and a member of the family because he already bore the Demugen surname. It would only serve to strengthen him in the social community of item holders if he were to be introduced to the public again, but that didn't even bother him in the least. After all, Raydon was about to become a member of an imminent grand family, and it was foolish to care about the feeble Demugen family at that point in time.

''Blue-grade item? Are you kidding? '' Elara suddenly turned around and let out a startled cry.

"How many blue-grade items are in the family treasury that you could offer one like that? Even on you, there shouldn't be more than three blue-grade items, right? '' Thalia voiced her displeasure.

Blue-grade items were extremely rare and valuable, and a family treasury as small as theirs would have only a small handful of blue-grade items at most.

"Zephyr, you are aware that you are not permitted to simply take something from the family treasure and give it away without first obtaining our authorization, correct?" Cael said with a frown.

He was still under the impression that he could trick Raydon with empty offers, but Zephyr's action rendered all of his preparations useless in an instant.

"Brother, you may be an idiot, but you can't look at everyone as an idiot just like yourself. You are aware of how significant our goal is for being here, right? Aside from that, the ridiculous offers you make only serve to make my nephew despise his family more. ''

Cael muttered, "Tch… You are just showing him how desperate we are. ''

They could even get another mid-rank item holder to join their family by giving them a blue-grade item. But now they were in the position of having to use such a valuable item as an investment for a plan that they weren't even completely confident in.

During this time, the members of Raydon's family were engaged in a debate with one another, but Raydon was silently giving his uncle Zephyr a thumbs up in his heart. In any case, his objective was to never settle for anything lower than a blue-grade item, but he couldn't help but acknowledge how much simpler his uncle's assistance had made his work.

''Okay, we will give you an item of the blue grade that we have chosen. But first, you will need to demonstrate your value to us.'' Cael finally said with a sigh.

The thought of sacrificing such a valuable item solely to obtain an answer to a question weighed heavily on him. However, now that he had come to know Raydon, he understood that anything less than this would fail to sway him.

'Will he be the one to make the selection of the item? Well, it's still a blue-grade item, ' Raydon reasoned. He was confident that Cael would select the least valuable item possible to give to him, but he made the decision not to be concerned about it.

After all, even the one with the least amount of value was tens of times more valuable than an item of green quality. In addition, even if this item was not suitable for him, Raydon could now sell it by taking part in the auction in the item market and use the gold coins he would earn to purchase a different item that would be more suitable for him now that he had achieved an E-Rank.

''Deal. '' Raydon said this with a big smile on his face, not hiding his happiness.

''So, how close are you to the esteemed item holder?'' Cael asked the question again as soon as he heard Raydon's response.

''Very close. '' Radon gave a casual response.

'We've only been talking for a short while, but I already want to kick this kid out of the family again," Cael grit his teeth and muttered angrily.

"I believe that should suffice as an answer, don't you think?" Zephyr observed everyone's escalating rage and chuckled as he said. Unlike the others, he seemed to be enjoying himself.

"Okay, why don't you show us which technique you learned?" Cael chose to ignore his brother's remark and, after taking a few deep breaths to calm himself, he asked.

After hearing what Cael had to say, others nodded their heads in unison to show their agreement. It was highly likely that Raydon had learned a profound technique from this esteemed high rank if he had truly awakened under his guidance. The quality and significance of this technique would indicate how much this individual values Raydon.

''Sure. '' Without objecting, Raydon accepted.

He was more than happy to show one of the techniques he had. The only issue was deciding which one he was going to demonstrate.
