From Sidekick to Bigshot

As Jian Yichen slept late and woke up late, he still did not know what happened early this morning.

When Jian Yichen woke from his nightmare, his forehead was covered with cold sweat.

The images in his nightmare seemed to be right in front of his eyes.

However, over the years, it seemed as though Jian Yichen got used to such things.

When he glanced at his alarm clock beside his bed, it showed that it was already eleven-thirty.

Jian Yichen got out of his bed and went into the bathroom. He washed his face and wiped the cold sweat from his body.

When he walked into his living room, Jian Yichen saw Yu Xi.

Yu Xi was sitting inside the living room of his apartment. He appeared so relaxed that Jian Yichen wondered whether he was in the right apartment.

“Why you are here?!”

Jian Yichen instinctively took two steps back.

As soon as he saw Yu Xi, Jian Yichen thought about the cruel torture a while ago.

“Is your ‘boyfriend’ not meant to visit you from time to time?”

Yu Xi smiled evilly as he approached Jian Yichen.

Yu Xi came over to comfort Jian Yiling today. However, after he realized that she was alright, he decided to come over to tease Jian Yichen.

Jian Yichen immediately dashed away: “Don’t do that! Don’t touch me!”

Yu Xi intentionally teased Jian Yichen: “Hmm? Do what? Throw another frog into your pants or something?”

“Oh my god. That’s enough! Don’t mention those things to me!”

Whenever the word ‘frog’ was mentioned, the bad memories from that day would surface in Jian Yichen’s mind.

Upon hearing this, Yu Xi decided to let Jian Yichen go.

However soon, he realized that Jian Yichen’s complexion was awful.

“Why is your complexion like that? Did I spook you or something?”

“Nah, who would be scared by you?” Jian Yichen replied.

“Hey, don’t be like that. If you’re unhappy about something, tell me about it. Your boyfriend will be amused.”

“Get lost!”

“Excuse me. You approached me first. You wanted me to pretend to be together with you. How can you turn your back on me like this?”

“I told you to act in front of Qin Yufan. You don’t need to do it when no one is around.”

“This is called being in character.”

“No! Go away!”

“Ah okay. Either way, I came over to tell you to go over and eat. Your sister is cooking delicious food for everyone.”

As soon as Yu Xi finished speaking, he saw a figure leave the apartment at lightning speed.

Yu Xi couldn’t help but exclaim: “Wow, your brother is really agile and nimble. How impressive.”

Jian Yiling and Zhai Yunsheng decided to stay home for the day. And thus, Jian Yiling prepared a table of delicious food.

Jian Yiling’s mood did not seem to be affected by the event this morning.

Jian Yiheng was the first to be seated. Then, Yu Xi and Jian Yichen also came over.

After a while, Qin Yufan arrived as well.

As soon as he saw Qin Yufan, Jian Yichen hurriedly moved next to Yu Xi.

Yu Xi cooperated and used chopsticks to pick up food for Jian Yichen.

When Qin Yufan saw the two of them, she said: “I’m not here today because of you.”

“Then why are you here?” Jian Yichen asked.

Yu Xi explained: “God Ling was fired from Huiling Medical Research Institution. Miss Yufan is here to visit God Ling. She wants to see if there is anything that she can help with.”

As Jian Yichen slept late last night, he was still asleep when the news came out in the morning. However, by the time he woke up, all traces of the news had been deleted by Zhai Yunsheng.
