From Sidekick to Bigshot

Upon hearing this, Jian Yichen said: “Brother, please give up already. You know me. Ever since I was young, I was unable to get a strong and healthy physique. It’s impossible for me. Furthermore, I’m Yiling’s sister. The seven of you can be responsible for being powerful and handsome. Yiling and I will be responsible for being as beautiful as a flower.”

“Well, Yiling can be responsible for being beautiful. You can be responsible for being the flower.” In Jian Yumin’s eyes, a ‘flower’ was a comedian star seen in television shows. They had a lot of makeup on but they were still incredibly ugly.

“Brother Yumin, if you’re like this, you won’t be able to find a girlfriend~,” Jian Yichen said as he glared at Jian Yumin with hidden bitterness.

“It sounds as though you’ve found a girlfriend or something,” Jian Yumin retorted. His words were powerful and resonating.

After all, none of them found a girlfriend. Using such a line wasn’t effective at all.

Jian Yujie hurriedly said: “I’m still young. Don’t look at me.”

Jian Yichen quickly added: “Well, I’m still young as well.”

Then, Jian Yichen asked Jian Yiheng: “Brother, you missed Yiling’s engagement. Shouldn’t you give her a gift to make up for that?”

Jian Yichen wanted Jian Yiheng to speak to Jian Yiling.

“I didn’t prepare a gift,” Jian Yiheng responded.

Jian Yichen hurriedly tried to find an excuse for his brother: “Ahh, is it because you were too busy? You were staying in a warzone, right? There’s probably not a lot of resources there.”

It was reasonable for Jian Yiheng to not prepare a gift. After all, his life could be endangered at any time in the warzone.

“Well, I didn’t think about it,” Jian Yiheng replied honestly.

Then, Jian Yiheng turned his head to look at Jian Yiling.

Jian Yiheng vaguely remembered Jian Yiling’s appearance when she was born. Back then, she looked like a tiny kitten.

She was not much better now. It was as though she did not have much flesh on her body.

In contrast, his brothers were much sturdier.

Jian Yiheng’s gaze only stayed on Jian Yiling for a very short moment. Then, his gaze quickly moved away.

As it was rare to get together with Jian Yiheng, the rest of them decided to eat dinner with him.

Jian Yiling personally cooked dinner for her brothers.

This time, Jian Yiling prepared fried pork in scoop, spiced chicken with chili sauce, hot and sour fish with pickled mustard greens, beef tenderloin on an iron plate, stir-fried sweet potato leaves, and pork belly soup.

This was because Jian Yiheng liked to eat meat. However, he still occasionally ate vegetables.

As there was an open kitchen in Jian Yichen’s house, Jian Yiheng was able to watch Jian Yiling prepare the food.

Jian Yiheng was currently holding a magazine in his hand. His expression remained serious however, every so often, he would glance in the direction of the kitchen.

At the same time, his nose could smell the aroma of the food that Jian Yiling was preparing.

Due to Jian Yiling’s skillful cooking, the smell of the kitchen became increasingly enticing. His taste buds were getting hooked.

For some reason, saliva unknowingly began to soak his mouth.

And thus, Jian Yiheng began to become a little distracted. His attention was slightly unfocused.

It seemed as though he was looking forward to today’s dinner.

As the dishes were brought to the desk, Jian Yiheng realized that the table was filled with his favorite dishes. This made his fingers tingle.

Jian Yiheng was not picky. Even though he was in a warzone a while ago, back then, he still gobbled up the food.

However, every person had a desire for delicious food. Jian Yiheng was no exception to this.

Jian Yiheng quickly used his chopsticks to pick up a piece of pork. He placed the pork into his mouth.

The pork was incredibly delicious. It tasted as good as it smelt.

The outside was crispy whilst the inside was tender. Furthermore, there was just the right layer of sauce coating the pork.
