From Sidekick to Bigshot

Jian Yiling stared at Zhai Yunsheng with widened eyes. However, her body did not fight against him.

For some reason, she did not dislike his touch. She did not feel the impulse to push him away.

However, when it came to other people, she still needed to restrain herself when they had physical contact with her. She had to make sure that she did not push the other person away. This was the case even with older women.

As Jian Yiling was very light, Zhai Yunsheng could lift her up with both hands. She appeared to be very small and fragile in his embrace.

Zhai Yunsheng placed Jian Yiling down on a seat next to a dining table. Then, he glanced at her face. Jian Yiling’s face was flushed red.

“Eat,” Zhai Yunsheng said to Jian Yiling. However, it also seemed as though he was saying this to himself.

After they finished eating, Zhai Yunsheng asked Jian Yiling about the sweater she was knitting.

Last time, Jian Yiling had promised to knit Zhai Yunsheng a sweater after she finished knitting the one for Jian Yubo.

Jian Yiling fished out some knitting wool from her bag.

“Is this color okay?”

Beige.

“Why this color?” Zhai Yunsheng asked. Initially, he assumed that she would use black.

“You’re warm,” Jian Yiling responded.

The color beige felt warm.

“Warm?” Zhai Yunsheng asked. Then, he suddenly remembered the memo name Jian Yiling gave him. “Is it because my name has two suns in it[1]?”

“Three,” Jian Yiling replied.

“Three?”

“You’ve helped me a lot[2],” Jian Yiling explained.

Upon hearing this, Zhai Yunsheng smiled.

In the past, when Jian Yiling was helpless and alone, Zhai Yunsheng had offered her a helping hand. To her, he was like the sunlight that broke apart her darkness.

Jian Yiling had finished the sweater for Jian Yubo.

She wanted to send him the sweater before winter arrived.

However, Jian Yiling did not know where Jian Yubo was.

Jian Yiling stared at the sweater in front of her. She wondered about Jian Yubo’s current address.

At this moment, Zhai Yunsheng opened up a drawer. He took out a piece of paper that had an address on it. Then, he handed the piece of paper to Jian Yiling.

“Jian Yubo’s current address.”

“How did you…”

How did he know that she wanted his address?

“Well, I knew that it would be needed after you finished knitting the sweater.”

Naturally, Jian Yiling planned to give Jian Yubo the sweater.

And thus, Zhai Yunsheng decided to help Jian Yiling find Jian Yubo’s address.

Jian Yiling looked at the piece of paper. For some reason, her heart felt warm.

The feeling felt similar to when she ate candy.

Later on, Jian Yiling mailed the sweater to the address on the piece of paper.

The place that Jian Yubo stayed at was not far away from Beijing.

And thus, Jian Yiling’s parcel arrived in his hands on the next day.

Jian Yubo never expected to receive a parcel.

He assumed that no one knew that he was here.

Jian Yubo did not open the parcel immediately. However, his teacher said: “Although it’s unexpected, perhaps, it was destined to be.”

Jian Yubo did not know what was inside the parcel.

It was a parcel that was not supposed to be here.

And thus, after a while, Jian Yubo opened it.

Inside the parcel was a hand-knitted sweater.

Then, he saw a document at the bottom of the parcel. It was the share transfer document that his lawyer had written up. His lawyer had asked Jian Yiling to sign the document.

The document had suddenly appeared in front of him.

However, Jian Yiling’s signature was still missing.

She had returned what he wanted to give her.

Jian Yubo held the sweater in his hands. Suddenly, he began to laugh.

Then, he felt the corners of his eyes water.

Perhaps, that teenager who played Go under the banyan tree really existed. That teenager had always existed in someone else’s heart.
