“What exactly does Jian Yiling have to do with the Goodman family? You guys never told me anything. So why are you blaming me for messing with her? I’ve grown up being told that we’re all responsible for finding the family compass. And I did just that. I didn’t do anything to hurt her. So why are you guys punishing me for nothing?”

Lucy was not convinced. She still did not know why Jian Yiling was important to the Goodman family. She still did not understand why Jian Yiling was respected by everyone.

Elder George frowned before he responded: “You’re the one who decided to take action right away. If you were willing to tell me about your findings, I would have told you the truth. However, you did not do that.”

“You would have told me? Tch, you can say whatever you want right now. This was clearly a task given to everyone in the family. So why am I not allowed to know the truth? Why am I not worthy?”

Lucy refused to accept this. Before this incident, she didn’t do anything wrong. However, she had been excluded from the core matters of the Goodman family.

With her bloodline, she should have been part of the core members of the Goodman family.

Elder George frowned once again.

Anna snorted: “And so, you decide to use theft?”

Lucy immediately denied this: “Don’t falsely accuse me. When did I steal? And when did I kidnap someone? Do you have any evidence for your claims?”

“It doesn’t matter if you disagree with my words. Either way, what you did made Miss Jian upset. In other words, you will no longer be able to climb in the Goodman family. And weren’t you curious about why Jian Yiling is so important to the Goodman family? Then I will let you know the reason for your downfall.”

“Jian Yiling’s surname is Jian,” Lucy responded. She refused to accept this. How could Jian Yiling possibly be connected to the Xie family who reigned over Continent M a century ago? It didn’t make sense.

“Yeah, her surname is Jian. However, the blood of the Xie family runs through her veins. Jian Yiling’s grandma is the last of the Xie family. And now, do you understand why Jian Yiling is so important to our family? It’s not a coincidence that the compass is in her hands. One of our elders handed it to her.”

Upon hearing this explanation, Lucy’s face turned pale.

She didn’t realize that Jian Yiling had such a connection to the Xie family.

“But… I didn’t do anything wrong. I just wanted to obtain the family compass,” Lucy said. She did not want to admit her mistake.

Elder George: “You can’t obtain the family compass by force. Jian Yiling must willingly give you the compass. If you snatch it using improper means, the Goodman family will not recognize it. Furthermore, the secret location of the treasure on the compass is only known to the Xie family.”

Anna snickered: “Well, you never told the rest of the family that the compass was on her either.”

George asked Lucy: “Lucy, you’re the one who doesn’t trust the Goodman family.. So why are you asking us to trust you with responsibilities?”
