Chapter 445: I Will Look For Mummy

Enoch held onto Xia Ning's arm and said with happiness, "Mummy, that's a pinky promise."

Seeing Enoch's pure smile, Xia Ning could not say no even if she wanted to. She put her fingers on his and nodded. "It's a pinky promise."

"Great!" Enoch nodded quickly and then turned to Qiao Yu. "Daddy, get some candy. My mouth is so bitter. I want Mummy to play with me!"

Qiao Yu watched the mother and the son and agreed at once. He looked at Xia Ning and said, "Don't spoil him."

Xia Ning was a bit surprised. She then nodded. "I know."

Qiao Yu turned around, opened the door and went downstairs.

"Mummy, I've been in the house for so many days. Can you take me out to play later?" Enoch started making requests the second Qiao Yu left. His entire body stuck on Xia Ning.

Xia Ning looked at Enoch and did not say yes. "We have to ask your Daddy about that. Also, you are sick so be good. I'll be with you for the next couple of days. Are you afraid that we'll not have time to play? Recover first."

"Sure," Enoch said a bit unwillingly.

Xia Ning looked at his sick face and knew he wanted to sleep after the medicine. So she said, "Mummy can tell you some stories. Get in the bed so that you will not be cold."

"Okay," Enoch said at once. "I really like to hear Mummy telling stories. Daddy has not been around lately. No one tells me stories."

Qiao Yu had been with her recently. Remembering this, Xia Ning felt a bit guilty. She should have asked Qiao Yu to come back.

"What kind of stories do you like?" Xia Ning asked, tucking Enoch into the bed.

Enoch held Xia Ning's hand. "Mummy, I want you to sleep with me."

Xia Ning knew he was still afraid that she might leave, so he wanted to feel safe. She felt even more guilty. She knew she owed him a lot so how could she say no? She took off her shoes and socks and laid next to him.

"It's great. I can sleep with Mummy again," Enoch said with excitement. He stared at Xia Ning, his face full of smiles.

Seeing the exact same face as Qiao Yu's, Xia Ning could not take it calmly. Yes, she would never be able to change the fact the Qiao Yu was this child's father. So she better accept it. In fact, from another viewpoint, she thanked Qiao Yu a lot for teaching him so well and for giving him the best environment to grow up in.

"What story do you want to hear?" Xia Ning asked.

Enoch said without thinking, "I want 'The Tadpoles Look For Their

Mommy'

!"

Xia Ning's face went stiff at once. She looked at Enoch with shock and could not hold her tears anymore.

If she was able to keep him by her side, how could she let Qiao Yu take him away? But so much unwillingness was not enough for the things that she owed him.

"Mummy, why are you crying?" Enoch looked at Xia Ning somewhat helplessly. He reached his tiny hands out to wipe her tears. "Mummy, don't cry. Did I do something wrong? Mummy, I'm sorry. Don't cry." He pouted his lips as if he was going to cry.

Xia Ning saw his careful and wronged face and took him into her arms at once. She comforted him. "Mummy is just too happy. Mummy found Enoch!" She tried to hold back her emotions, afraid that it would scare him. But her tears were out of control.

Enoch laid in Xia Ning's arms and said in a low voice, "Mummy, don't cry. If Mummy can't find me in the future, I'll find you, just like the tadpoles!"

Xia Ning wanted to speak but something was stuck in her throat. Tears traveled down her face like a broken dam.

A classic Chinese story about a group of tadpoles looking for their mommy.
