Panda Novel

“Why?” Luo Weibing was surprised, “Aren’t you close with Mu Chen? I heard that Mu Chen was beside you when the accident happened. Technically speaking, he should have the most sorrow and the most guilt…”

Zhao Youlin fell silent for a moment. How could she not understand what Luo Weibing meant? It was all the more because of this that she could not let Mu Chen know that she was still alive.

She could still vividly remember the incident on that day. That bullet had come from the direction of her comrade. She had not had the chance to investigate her murderer. She must not let that person discover that she was alive. Her sacrifice should not be in vain. She had to find the main culprit behind the scene as soon as possible. Otherwise, Mu Chen and the rest of her comrades might end up in her footsteps.

“I’ve my own reasons. Just do as I say.” Zhao Youlin turned away, not wanting to dwell on the topic.

Luo Weibing noticed her reluctance, so he nodded and did not continue on.

It was already noon by the time Zhao Youlin returned to the Mu family’s villa. Joy had been waiting at the door. His eyes sparkled the moment she descended from the car and he lunged toward Zhao Youlin cutely. He buried himself into her warm embrace.

“Mommy, you’re late.” There was a hint of indignancy in Joy’s soft voice which delighted Zhao Youlin.

Before this, Zhao Youlin had been frustrated over the fact that a three-year-old child was that cautious due to his previous experience of being abandoned by his father and treated coldly by his mother.

This was because a child of his age should be playing, making noises and acting cutely instead of being soft and obsequious. If a child did not take the advantage of behaving actively at this stage, that window may have passed by the time he grew up. Therefore, in the eyes of Zhao Youlin, Joy was very quiet compared to other children of his age. He was too obedient for his own good. In fact, he should be acting like a baby just like now.

“I rushed home as soon as I settled the case. I’m sorry to have made you wait for long, Joy. Come, I’ll give you a kiss.” Zhao Youlin squatted, scooped Joy up and gave a big kiss on his cheek.

Joy was instantly satisfied. He returned the kiss to Zhao Youlin, then leaned on her shoulders shyly. After that, he looked at the male stranger who came down from the other side of the car curiously.

Once Luo Weibing descended from the car, he saw Zhao Youlin carrying a cute child that was chubby like a pink dumpling. He was stunned for a moment. He unwittingly whistled and said, “Sister Lin, where did you get the child from? He’s so cute. I’ll get him to play with me tomorrow.”

Zhao Youlin stared at him crossly. She spat out calmly, “He’s my son. I dare you to give him a try.”

Luo Weibing choked. He recalled that Zhao Youlin was no longer the high and mighty beautiful lady to be admired from afar in the police force. She was married and had just divorced. Above all, she already had a three-year-old son!

“Wait! Sister Lin, please stop talking. I need to calm down.” Luo Weibing looked like his illusion had been destroyed and retreated. The feeling was completely different when he saw it with his own eyes compared to when he heard about it before this.

Zhao Youlin lost count of the number of times she had rolled her eyes at him on that day. She helplessly withdrew her gaze and turned her head. Then, she noticed Joy staring at Luo Weibing curiously. He asked softly, “Mommy, who’s this?”

Zhao Youlin jolted her precious son and introduced him. “He’s one of my friends. You may address him as Uncle Luo.”

“No way! Stop addressing me as an uncle!” Zhao Youlin’s words immediately agitated Luo Weibing as he was still indulging in his own world and found it hard to extricate himself from it. He scurried before them in a swish and cried excitedly, “Just call me Brother. Brother will be good!”

Zhao Youlin fell speechless.
