Face-Slapping System

44 The President's Children

As Roland doesn't have a license yet, Janine was the one who drove the Ramborghini Sian.

After the display of skills earlier, Roland has full trust of her on the road.

The Sea Anemone District was around one to two hours away from the downtown area.

The transportation department and other government related facilities were often situated there.

Their destination today was precisely downtown. It just so happened that the local car show was also just near the area, so they planned to go directly there once the matter regarding the driver's license was settled.

Arriving downtown one and a half hours later, Janine parked the Ramborghini Sian near the transportation department.

The pedestrians had their necks twisted as they followed the Sian's path.

The Ramborghini Sian was just that breathtaking to look at.

In this city, only a select few were real car enthusiasts like Janine who could recognize a car's brand and model at one glance.

However, even the most ignorant person would be able to tell that the Sian was extraordinary, prompting them to look at it as it passes by.

After Janine parked the Sian perfectly, both she and Roland went directly to the office where a lot of people were already falling in line to either take their licensure exam or to claim their license.

Either way, as Roland and Janine already have an 'appointment' in advance, they did not have to fall in line with the others.

They went directly to the security guard and asked him where 'Paul' the person in-charge of the 'private' transaction was located.

The security guard seemed familiar with such a process. He directly pointed to the location of Paul without wasting any time.

Roland and Janine approached Paul who was sitting behind a glass counter inside the transportation office.

However, even before they could take a single step inside the office, a commotion suddenly erupted on the people who fell in line earlier.

"Hey guard! What do you mean by that?"

A bulky man went out of his line as he approached the guard with knitted brows.

"Hey, guard! I saw those two people arrive just a moment ago. How can they be allowed to enter the office already when we have been here since dawn to fall in line to get our license, but are still outside waiting for you to call us over? This is unacceptable!"

He bellowed at the guard with a fierce expression.

"Right, I saw them walking here just now too!" One of the people on the line echoed.

With the two of them as a fuse, the other who waited to be called for a few hours also echoed their resentment.

"This guard is clearly biased!"

"Right, he's not even handsome and he looked old. How dare he act that way! Hmmp!" A girl full of makeup voiced out her resentment too.

The thing is, she was actually ignored by the guard earlier when she was trying to flirt with him so that she can have easy passage, so she was just trying to get back at him right now.

The guard rolled his eyes from their banters. This was not the first time he encountered such troublesome customers, so he did not panic.

"They are the children of the president, what can you do about it?" He looked at them with a provoking attitude.

He was not afraid of causing trouble at all. Those who knew Paul's name the moment they arrived were no ordinary person.

Each of them was influential in their own right, hence the reason why they were allowed to cut in line and have them get prioritized even more so than persons with disabilities or the elderlies.

The guard has long gotten used to such sights and he was already numb to it. There was no reason to offend these influential figures either so it's better to just shut up the crowd than to offend those who can cut in line.

On the other hand, although the guard said it jokingly, the people who kept on ranting immediately shut their mouth upon hearing what he said.

Them being the child of the president was just a mere joke by the guard, but they also understood the underlying meaning that the guard wanted to convey. So, they no longer argued and just silently complained to themselves.

The bulky man who initiated the commotion retreated with a shaking body. He almost offended a person he should have not offended; how could he not feel nervous?

Compared to them, he was just an ordinary man.

Although he felt humiliated, he still decided to go back to the line immediately.

Unfortunately, when he went back, he could no longer find the person who was in front of him earlier. No one wanted to let him get in front of them either so he could only go back at the end of the line, delaying his time for a few hours even more.

He could only swallow the pill of regret as he looked at Roland and Janine enter the office without problem.

On the other hand, Roland clicked his tongue in annoyance when they entered the office.

He thought that a face-slapping opportunity had presented itself to him again, but unfortunately, the guard resolved it on his own swiftly, not even allowing the other party to build up their emotion.

How unsatisfying!

Roland could only shake his head in disappointment as they approached Paul.

He was wearing the standard employee uniform and although the other cashiering window had a lot of people lined up, only his window was devoid of people, as if he was not an employee of the office.

Paul was a man in his fifties with white hair. He was wearing reading glasses while looking down, seemingly reading something.

However, he seemed to be busy checking the documents in front of him, so he did not notice Roland and Janine were already in front of him.

It was only when Janine knocked on the glass that he notice the two of them.

He hurriedly stopped the ongoing Candy Rush game on his phone as he adjusted his reading glasses as he started to observe Roland and Janine with a nonchalant expression.

"New or renewal?" He said, not beating around the bush, after guessing their purpose.

"New!" Janine replied.

Paul nodded his head as the keyboard keys crackled below him as he typed with a quick speed above it

"For whom?"

"For me!" Roland was the one who answered this time.

Paul adjusted his glasses again as he observed Roland up and down.

Tsk!

Roland heard a click on Paul's tongue as he continued, "Name? Age?"

"Roland, 18."

He then continued to ask a bunch of questions, snapped Roland's picture with the low-quality camera before letting him sign on the electronic signature device and then recording his fingerprints.

After the document was settled, he finally took a look at Roland again and asked, "Lastly, who sent you here?"

Roland's answer would determine the price of this private transaction.
