427 Bestie's Comfort

CHAPTER 427

Recalling their past made her smile through her tears though her voice cracked at times too.

"You're always there for me whenever I need someone...allow me to be here for you better than I did the last time."

The last time they had been disturbed by Liu Xueyi. But now, she had time for him.

"So cry but do not hate yourself cause your best friend doesn't."

Andromeda pecked his cheek before wiping away another tear from his face.

"I'm sorry about what happened earlier today," she whispered into his ear before moving away slightly so she could look up into his face again.

"Forgive me, Jun and forgive yourself," she added softly again in a whisper this time which caused Gu Jun to flinch in pain again—his eyes closed tightly shut in an attempt to block out all emotions inside himself again.

However, he opened them after a moment of silence between both of them once more.

Gu Jun smiled weakly then reached towards her hand slowly till he took them gently within his own hands, squeezing lightly causing Andromeda to giggle softly.

She lowered her gaze shyly. He was something else.

She felt like crying herself because it was nice having such closeness with him even if it wasn't romantic or sexual. It gave her the feeling of family.

Something she missed with the passing of her mother. Returning her gaze back to his, Andromeda gave a warm smile but at that moment pain flashed in her own eyes.

Gu Jun felt his heart clench just at the sight. She was all he had too and he hated when she was hurt.

"I know what you are feeling now, Andromeda. So, stop it," he chided her lightly. "I'll never leave your side as your big bro," Gu Jun assured her, pressing her hand gently.

Andromeda's lips curved upwards as tears fell down her cheeks yet again while smiling through those tears.

She gave a nod, agreeing with his words. It was painful what they had gone through in life but they had each other.

"You have me and you have Liu Xueyi. Be confident about that. No one is taking us from you."

At the mention of Liu Xueyi, Andromeda pressed her lips tightly together.

"What? Are you guys still fighting?"

She shook her head. Although the present matter weighed down on her, she did not wish to discuss his private life with Gu Jun.

"It is nothing. We are not fighting. He is busy with work and stuff and I am too."

"Busy? That's no excuse. He better not hurt you," Gu Jun refuted, anger already rising in his eyes.

"Relax. It isn't like that. We love each other and we come back home to that love and care. It is just a phase that would soon pass away."

"You sure?" he asked lifting his brow as he studied the expression on her face.

'I hope,' Andromeda voiced inwardly.

"Fine, whether you are sure or not, I will trust you and always be here for you. If he hurts you, my arms are here to cry on and my fist would do the beating."

"Hahhaa..."

When Andromeda returned, she did not disturb Liu Xueyi and focused on her work. Every second of her time counted so much now.

And while she was concerned about him, she trusted his actions with Mo Yuning.

"Hey hon," she greeted when she walked into his study.

He looked up at her from where he sat at his desk before standing up and straightening out his clothes which were slightly dishevelled from being at ease all day long—his hair messy from running fingers through it all over again after showering earlier this evening.

She smiled seeing how handsome he appeared right then and closed the gap between them. She wrapped an arm around his waist pulling herself close to him; their bodies touching lightly but enough to feel warm skin-to-skin contact.

She kissed his cheek softly causing him to smile widely in response but there was something else in those eyes that made her heart skip several beats because they seemed...sad somehow?

"What's wrong?" she questioned worriedly as they both stepped apart slowly.

"I..."

"Xueyi, you know better than to keep anything from me, right?" Andromeda's voice came out strong, filled with concern. "Tell me what happened!"

Liu Xueyi sighed heavily looking downwards for a moment before meeting her gaze once more. He took a deep breath before speaking quietly:

"It is nothing really," he said trying hard not to let any emotion slip past his lips though a slight tremor could be felt within himself too.

He knew if he told her everything, she would not be focused and he could not do that to her.

"Trust me, okay. It's not something I cannot take control of. I am just tired, that's all," he half lied.

Her eyes scrutinized him for a minute, searching for the lie in his words but found none so instead of pressing further on the matter, she decided to change the topic altogether by asking about work.

"So how did your day go today?"

"Good," Liu Xueyi answered simply and wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her body closer.

He knew to distract her; he would probably have to exhaust her in a good way. And that was great considering she needed the assurance now that Zheng Ying was in their lives.

Andromeda nodded understanding how busy he must have been since he had to mix work and the news of his child together.

"And your son?"

Liu Xueyi breathed out sharply; she knew how to pry when she wanted to seek out the truth.

"All good. No trouble from Zheng Ying for now."

She smiled at hearing this while feeling relieved a bit knowing he wasn't too bothered with his ex.

"Okay. If you say so."

"And you? How is work? What happened today?"

"Nothing much happened at work and then I had lunch with Gu Jun as his friend."

Liu Xueyi's gaze darkened as his hold on her tightened, pressing her further to him.

"I knew it, your jealousy would spring forth," Andromeda teased and proceeded to wrap her hands around his neck.

"You are jealous because you weren't there, right?" she asked playfully before kissing him softly.
