Dragon's Wrath: The Cursed Returnee
74 Competition
Thanks to the fact that Ethan didn't have any more classes that day, he decided to spend the rest of the day practicing his alchemy. Still, in the end, he was forced to stop because someone was calling him via his wristwatch… it was Emily.
"Where are you?" Emily asked. "Aren't we going to train today?"
"I'm in the laboratory, practicing my alchemy," Ethan replied. "You don't really need my help to train your stamina, right?"
"Well, yeah… but it is boring," Emily said. "Besides, Ian has been bothering me for a while, and I'm at my limit. Unless there is a witness nearby, I don't know if I can keep my anger in check."
"Having an witness nearby will only incriminate you if you loses your cool," Ethan shrugged.
That had nothing to do with Ethan, but in the end, he decided to join them. Those two might be weird friends, but at least they made Ethan feel like an average person once more. At least for the time being. In any case, it looked like Emily liked to teach others despite being so rude at times. It was thanks to that that she could keep running for hours and hours despite thinking that it was so boring.
When Ethan arrived in the room, those two were. He couldn't help but frown when he noticed Ian practicing the same spells he had learned the day before. Although he wasn't even trying, the power of those support spells surpassed Ethan's.
"It took you long enough," Ian said. "I was asking Emily to teach me the next spells, but she refused."
"You are serious about increasing your rank, huh," Ethan said. "Why did you have to ask her? I'm pretty sure you already had all the lessons of that course."
"You are right," Ian nodded. "But I didn't pay attention to any of it."
If Ethan didn't know Ian any better, he would say that he was mocking his effort. Still, for good or worse, he was an idiot enough to spend months going to classes and not paying attention to most of them. In any case, as Ethan had suspected, Ian was far more talented than he tried to look like. Even though he probably didn't have a leveling system, he increased the efficacy of those spells with ease and in just a few hours.
A few hours later, Ethan confirmed those thoughts. Ian tried to learn spells as fast as possible, and whenever he did it, he looked at Ethan with that smug face of his. In a sense, Ian deserved respect for trying to be so annoying that frequently.

"Those are the most basic support spells," Emily explained. "It is kind of annoying that none of you are mages but can use the skills at satisfactory levels. Still, I would recommend that you train those skills during the weekend as much as possible. The other three remaining spells, I will teach them Monday."
"Knowing you, I thought you would come to school even on Saturdays," Ethan said. "Guess I was wrong."
"What? You are coming tomorrow?" Ian asked, surprised. "You are something else, Ethan. Most students made sure not to pick the courses that have classes on Saturday. We fought hard to save other worlds and come back home, but not to attend school on Saturdays upon returning."
That made sense, but Ethan became someone who didn't know the meaning of day-offs. So, he didn't even think about not coming to school on Saturdays. Still, since he was in a hurry to learn a way to control Omni Hero's power, it was only natural.
"If you want to train on Saturdays, I won't mind helping you," Emily said. "But I can't change my plans for tomorrow, so we can only do that the next week and onward."
"Nah, it is cool," Ethan shook his head. "I also think that those spells are at low levels. Given that we learned a few, I guess using the weekend to train them isn't a bad idea. See you guys next week."
It was already late. Surprisingly, despite everything, time passed really fast when Ethan was with Ian and Emily. Ethan had forgotten that, but there are more merits than demerits in having friends such as them. Regardless, Ethan would have only an archery class on Saturday, so it would be the perfect day to use the simulator seriously and try to increase his powers a little bit.
"I guess it will be more efficient if I use those spells that I learned while fighting. Eventually, I will learn the passive versions, which increase my status without costing me any mana. Still, it isn't a bad idea to use them and increase my deck of options."
On Saturday, Ethan learned what he had already imagined. Just like it was with alchemy classes, archery classes were mainly practical. Interestingly enough, all of the classes were held in the simulator. That kind of device was really useful in many ways. Ethan wanted one, but it was probably much more expensive than he could afford. Besides, all the simulator rooms he had seen until now were bigger than his home.
In any case, Ethan's infamy had spread quite a bit. Not even a single student in that course approached him. Even the teacher seemed pretty reluctant to give a few pointers to Ethan while he was shooting.
"Oh, well… it is not like I need their help. As long as my skills level up, I should be able to pass the test of this course."
Congratulations! You learned the skill Archery!
