Doomsday Online: Supreme Blessing
Chapter 69 - : Legend-Grade Material!
Link had also considered one other thing—there was a use in leaving Bloodseeker alive. After all, leaving Bloodseeker alive would motivate Luo Xinghe and Luo Xingyao.
The power of hatred was the best way to arouse a person's potential; it might even help them break through their limits.
In Link's previous life, Luo Xinghe and Luo Xingyao still reached the peak, even without his help. This was enough to show how much potential they had.
Letting the two siblings settle Bloodseeker themselves would help them to loosen the shackles in their hearts. If there were shackles in one's heart, one's future would be affected. This was very taboo!
"Yes, Lord!" Luo Xinghe and Luo Xingyao nodded, the light in their eyes shining. They understood Link's intentions. This also caused their desire for strength to intensify even more!
"I shall bring you guys to a good place later," said Link insipidly. He then turned his gaze toward the ground. He was looking at the spot where the Black Dragon Gang's three team leaders were killed.
According to logic, in the apocalyptic world, humans were the players of a game. Once they were killed, all the items in their storage space would drop out.
Unfortunately, [Death Judgment]'s power was too terrifying. It was enough to crush everything into dust. Not even the three team leaders' corpses were left behind.
But a few glittering crystal-like fragments were scattered on the ground. They were pieces of the Legend-grade energy cannon. Although it had been cut in halves, it wasn't pulverized.
"As expected of a Legend-grade weapon. What a pity." Link shook his head. If he knew this would happen, he would have controlled the attack's might. If he had done so, he might've gained this Legend-grade weapon.
Although the energy cannon was damaged, its materials were still usable.
Link swept his hand, sweeping the fragments into his arms. At the same time, a wave of information appeared in his mind.
[Black-Gold Fragment]
Grade: Legend
Attribute: Defense +1,000
Introduction: Sturdy black-gold fragment that is an excellent forging material. It can be used to craft equipment or build city walls.
Upon reading the information, Link was delighted. He had just started preparing to build a base, but he didn't expect excellent construction materials to appear right in front of him at this period of time.
This was akin to someone giving him a pillow right when he wanted to sleep.
It should be known that one had to meet three unavoidable conditions when they wanted to build a base: City Building Token, construction materials, and a Craftsman!
All three factors had to be present!
The City Building Token was the foundation. Only with this token would the base be acknowledged by heaven and earth. Only then would godly law descend upon the base, making it a home city.
When Link cleared the Sin Realm, he had obtained a City Building Token! Hence, he had to consider the base's construction materials next.
Construction materials were important when constructing bases.
The better the material, the sturdier the base's defense. The base's defense could be so sturdy that even the monster siege—which was arriving soon—wouldn't be able to break through the base's city walls.
At the store inside the City of the Undead, Link had seen many different construction materials. However, Link required a large number of them, so they weren't in his consideration for now.
However, these black-gold fragments were considered perfect construction materials since they could provide high defense capabilities for the base. With these black-gold fragments, Link was confident in building an indestructible home city.
Since he now had suitable construction materials, the next factor to consider was the Craftsman.
A Craftsman was the soul during the base's construction—they were in charge of the construction and structuring!
[Craftsman] was a special lifestyle profession. Not only were those of this profession capable of crafting equipment, but they could also build city gates, city walls, and even a whole city!
It should be known that a base wasn't something that any person could build. Exclusive skills and abilities were required to build a powerful home city!
According to Link's memories of his previous life, the Human Alliance's five home cities—which deterred other races—were all built by Epic-grade Craftsmen. These five home cities were indestructible and were able to continue standing in a chaotic world where monsters and dark creatures ran rampant.
The stronger a Craftsman's capabilities, the more they could enhance a home city, making the home city even stronger.
This was why Link sent Luo Xinghe and Luo Xingyao to bring over the students from Dragon City No.1 Middle School.
This was because he remembered that there was a future Craftsman amongst them! This person was also somebody Link knew.
"Xingyao, bring the students here," commanded Link insipidly.
Luo Xingyao quickly acted and brought the surviving students over.
"Boss Link, I have finally seen you again!" An extremely delighted voice sounded. A chubby person then walked out from the group of students, looking at Link joyfully.
"Fatty, you are indeed still alive!" Upon seeing this person, a slight smile appeared on Link's face.
This fatty was Link's buddy, who had played with him since they were young till now.
Fatty's actual name was Lu Da, and he claimed to be the descendant of Lu Ban[1]. He normally liked to play with all kinds of weird and strange objects. Hence, he was looked down upon by many.
Link was the only person he liked to play with.
When the apocalypse descended, Link didn't see him. Hence, Link wasn't able to bring Lu Da out with him. But Link knew that Lu Da wasn't a person who would die easily. Lu Da had even survived until the apocalypse's later stages.
According to Link's memories of his previous life, Fatty Lu Da became the apprentice of an Epic-grade Craftsman, taking his interest to the extreme.
Fatty had taken part in the construction of all five main home cities.
"Boss Link, you are too strong!" Fatty was full of surprise and envy. He also didn't expect that the originally ordinary Link would become such a powerful being when the apocalypse descended.
Link chatted with Fatty for a while before asking, "Oh, right! Fatty, have you obtained a profession?"
He could see that Lu Da was still a normal person since he didn't have any aura of power in him. He was considered lucky to stay alive up to this point.
"Hehe. Boss, not yet…" Fatty embarrassingly touched the back of his head, feeling slightly embarrassed.
When the apocalypse came, he was hiding in some unknown place and sleeping. He barely avoided the Undead creatures' rampage.
After he woke up, the entire Dragon City No.1 Middle School had been cleared by Link once, leaving only devastation. Not a single creature could be seen.
Although Lu Da had peacefully survived until now, he hadn't killed a single Undead creature. Naturally, he wasn't able to level up.
"But the System said that I was too weak, so it gave me this! Boss, look!" After saying this, Fatty told out a scroll from his pocket.
It was a Skill Scroll!
[Strike While the Iron Is Hot]
Grade: Silver
Type: Crafting skill
Introduction: The user can strike the iron while it is hot and use it to forge or refine equipment (Silver-grade) to improve the equipment's Strength, Defense, and Health attributes by +10.
…
Upon seeing the skill book in Fatty's hand, the corners of Link's mouth twitched.
This Fatty is really able to pass the time doing nothing. It is already the fifth day of the apocalypse, yet Fatty only gained a crafting skill book. Furthermore, it is only Silver-grade.
But Link knew that not everyone could successfully obtain a battle-type profession. Many obtained lifestyle professions, but they also had very strong capabilities.
For example, those of the [Foodie] profession could make all kinds of unprecedented delicacies that could even provide buffs to the consumer.
Craftsmen could craft equipment and enhance equipment's attributes. Doctor Ghost was a Myth-grade Craftsman, and he could even build a Legend-grade energy cannon now.
In the later stages of the apocalypse, he even crafted Myth-grade equipment. Just this accomplishment was enough to show his capability.
There were also the Enchantment Masters, who could enchant and imbue weapons with all kinds of attributes.
The [Decomposer] profession could decompose equipment into materials… and so on.
As for Lu Da? He was one of these types of people.
[1] Lu Ban was a Chinese structural engineer, inventor, and carpenter during the Zhou Dynasty. He is revered as the Chinese Deity of builders and contractors. (Extracted from Wikipedia)
