Divine Emperor of Death
2606 Back To The First Trial
Just as Tanya reached, the silver-robed woman was the second to arrive, and the third was Natalya.
Natalya frowned but accepted that she was the slowest of them all. She only had an edge before because Tanya and the silver-robed woman were battling each other. But she wasn't disheartened because it remained to be seen who was the strongest, especially as she had yet to display her full self-learned fusion arts as well as use Iesha's power.
The three of them made their way on the single pathway displayed to them.
They were in a hall that seemed to be decorated with an ancient variety of furniture that seemed to indicate much time had passed, and the ceiling was covered in shining crystals, glossing and casting a blue light onto the atmosphere. As they walked on the obsidian and azure tiles, they came to realize that this place was spatially locked. They couldn't fly here as there was a restriction placed by an invisible formation.
However, they also realized that the space here was enlarged.
After all, they had just entered a giant sword hilt, but the space here was so vast that such volume couldn't possibly fit in that giant sword hilt. They could only imagine that space here was enlarged or it was situated somewhere else completely.
Abruptly, they saw a silhouette standing before Frostcloud Sword Empress's statue and realized that it should be Niel Bladeheart, and just as they expected, Niel Bladeheart stood before the statue with his eyes closed.
Tanya knew he had likely sensed their presence but didn't respond to their arrival.
She also didn't say anything and arrived before the statue, looking around and making sure that it wasn't a trap of any sort. The silver-robed woman followed suit, cautiously looking at Niel Bladeheart while Natalya neared Tanya and pointed towards the carving etched by the sword's edge.
"We need five people for the trial to activate...?"
Tanya frowned. Looking around, she knew for a fact that there were only four people. Just as she thought that they had no choice but to wait for Davis, a burst of icy light appeared beside her as she saw Iesha manifest, her blue lips moving.
"Now there's five."
"I guess that's doable." Tanya smiled at Iesha as they didn't have to borrow more of Davis's time.
As though reacting to her words, the icy sword held by the statue beamed with an icy light and flashed upon them, causing all five of them to disappear, leaving an empty hall behind.
A few minutes later, Davis appeared here with Tia by his side and put her down. Because she took too long, he just carried her with his soul force. Although the force suppressing him became as two times as strong, he still carried her to the sword hilt and entered through the shining gate.
Once they were inside, they made their way to the statue and saw the carvings formed on the sword's edge.
[Since you are here, it could be said that you have some fate with me. However, if you are not an ice or sword cultivator, it's in your best interest to turn back and leave. Even if you have fate with me, I won't easily admit that you're my inheritor, so go back and bring back four more people to take the inheritance trial with you. They don't need to be sword cultivators, but if the formations were to find foul play, then you would be expelled into the abyss.]
"Hmm... that's some heavy words and straight to the point. As expected of someone training in Sword Laws of Ice. This Frostcloud Sword Empress's words ooze out with sharpness and indifference. But five people?"
Davis frowned at this strange condition. Moreover, foul play? What was considered foul play? That wasn't mentioned.
Nonetheless, he ordered Threelotus and the others to protect Tia and asked.
"Tia, can you divine this region's fate once again?"
"I can, but it will take some time..." Tia pursed her lips. Her cheeks were blushing with an unhealthy hue as she tried her best to climb but was still suppressed, causing her to fall down two times until she was saved by Davis both times.
Clearly, she wasn't battle-hardened or fast to be able to reach the statue's sword hilt, but she was still embarrassed about it.
"How much time?"
However, with Davis relying on her without looking at her in a disappointed manner, Tia felt determined.
"Less than half a day."
"Will you receive a backlash...?"
"Most likely, but compared to what I previously did, it should not be that great as this covers a wide area..."
Davis frowned. As their mentor, he felt like he should allow them to grow and not protect them all the time by being unwilling to let them take some risks, but as the man taking care of them, he was truly reluctant to let them encounter danger, especially when he saw strange things appear to bite off Tia's karmic threads.
Even for him, that ominous and otherworldly experience was scary. Those things didn't seem defeatable to him.
"Alright, do your best."
Davis took a breath and answered, causing Tia to heavily nod her head, intending not to disappoint him this time- no, she knew that she wouldn't disappoint him as she had more confidence in her divination abilities than her battle form.
Davis then secretly instructed Nadia to stay and protect Tia and his women and aid the Reaper Soul Legion if needed. He then left the trial zone and flew down the statue.
*Boom!~*
His fall created a massive breeze that emerged from his landing but still didn't harm him one bit. He continued to leave, making his way past the floating rocks but halfway through, he came to a stop and landed on a floating rock.
"It's you."
Rea Tyriel stood opposite him as she also landed. Her face didn't look good as her brows were frowning, probably having realized that she had been fooled.
"Alright, you two can turn back and leave."
Davis waved his hand, causing Rea Tyriel to frown, "What are you hiding behind?"
"The Frostcloud Sword Empress's Inheritance."
Rea Tyriel's eyes shot wide on receiving Davis's answer, but for another moment, she imagined if she was playing with her.
"Just give us the way. I'll find what is there for myself."
"Why should I?" Davis pursed his lips, causing Rea Tyriel to frown again.
"You..."
"I already told you." Davis shook his head, "One of my women is set to become this inheritance's inheritor, you see..."
Rea Tyriel's produced a smile as her eyes narrowed, "Ah, so you're scared that I will take that chance away from them?"
"You?" Davis pointed at her face before he chuckled, "One of the rules clearly states that it is a waste of time for any other cultivators other than ice and sword cultivators to enter."
"Then why are you stopping us?"
"Isn't that clear? Tanya offended you, didn't she?"
Rea Tyriel's smile faded, her eyes squinting as she sneered.
"Heh, I'm merely going to teach her a lesson. Surely, you wouldn't bother a supreme genius like me disciplining her, would you?"
"Touch her, and you're dead."
Davis coldly looked at her in response, causing Rea Tyriel to narrow her eyes.
"Are you serious? I know you haven't even married her, or have you?"
"Does it matter when they're considered my women? I'm not playing, Rea Tyriel. Don't touch my people."
"Is that so?" Rea Tyriel scoffed, "Then consider our beginning an end."
It was his woman who offended her, so how come he was playing the innocent as though she was the one making the first offense? She was disappointed by the way he dealt with matters.
"I understand you're from a great family who couldn't take this slight standing and refuse to leave it like that but sure. Now leave."
"No, you think you can take the two of us at the same time at full power?"
Rea Tyriel's feet hovered as she began to float. Incredible waves of undulation surged from her slender yet bountiful body, trying to suppress Davis as rays of light shone from her, making her look like a goddess. At the same time, Black Tyriel transformed into a dark crow, flying around her as he gazed at Davis.
Pure white light and dark light bound with one another as they formed a unique resonance, causing Davis to narrow his brows.
"Last time, we restricted our cultivation bases to your level, so don't think it will go the same as you imagined this time."
Rea Tyriel sneered, causing Davis's lips to curve.
"Really? You don't want to do this here, as it's not my responsibility if you fall into the abyss."
"Then make way." Rea Tyriel harrumphed.
"Seems like both of us won't yield."
Davis had his hands folded, waiting for them to make a move with a languid smile on his face. His utter composure over the increasingly hostile situation had both Rea Tyriel and Black Tyriel look at him with an intense gazes as though wanting to see through his expression.
Was he really daring enough to take both of them at the same time?
