The days went by in a flash. Stuck in a small room, Skyy had nothing to do but keep himself occupied. the two books he borrowed really did a great help to him. he was completely immersed in the new knowledge he could learn about ancient Earth.

It was so fascinating how so many countries existed. Now only two countries exist. And only two languages.

He gazed up at the slightly reflective window glass. His face was slightly on the smaller side, with almond shapes and upturned eyes. His hair was jet black and slightly curly at the end. His features come from an ancient culture known as the Chinese. It was rare for people to look like him. just like Kyle. He had flaming orange hair. His DNA came from one of the Irish descendants.

The other PWs staying in this base all looked the same with blond hair and pale faces. Only they two looked different. This was also the reason they started to talk to each other.

Skyy smiled softly. 'I'll tell Kyle all about his ancient ancestors…. Ireland seems so interesting... so does China...'

He stuck his face to the window, trying his best to get a look at the slight shadow of earth that was disappearing in the side. "I think I can see China…"

China's ancient wall was supposed to be visible from the moon, but sadly all of that got destroyed in time. only rubble was seen.

Skyy pouted. "at least that could be seen," he cracked his neck. "Ahh I shouldn't just sit still," he stood up and did basic starching before he started to run around. He ran around the room until he was panting. Even so, he did not stop. He continued running pushing his stamina.

Suddenly loud being sound rang out. The doors were automatically open.

['Maintenance underway please proceed to the common areas'] the speakers loudly informed the occupants.

"Yes!" Skyy excitedly wiped his sweaty face and ran out. Only ten days had passed. the maintenance day came much earlier than before.

'But that's a good thing. I can meet Kyle again and tell him everything about what I read,' he pushed through the crowd and ran to the common area. his eyes roamed around searching for that familiar flashy red hair. But he could not spot him even after ten minutes of searching.

Frowning, Skyy moved to the library and the canteen. Still nothing.

'Where is he?' a strange fear gripped his heart.

His heart started to pound loudly. 'no it can't be…'

As ran around until he saw Kyle sitting in the corner with his head down.

"Oh, thank god I thought you were chosen." He plopped down next to him. "you know that book I took last time was so good. It had so much information about our ancient civilization. It's said I'm Chinese and you are Irish. Isn't that cool? That explains our hair color and our facial structure…" he rambled on.

Kyle did not say a word.

"Kyle…" Skyy gently placed a hand on his arm.

His friend pulled back.

This movement pulled back the long sleeve to reveal a black-blue bruise on his wrist.

"No… no…. Kyle… Kyle..." he grabbed him by his shoulders.

Kyle refused to look up at him. he curled up in a ball.

"I'm... I'm so sorry." He hugged him tightly to his embrace. "I'm so sorry…"

"It's okay," Kyle hoarsely whispered. "it's not that bad... at least I'm not pregnant yet." He raised his head with a small smile on his bruised lips.

Skyy gently touched his face. rage boiled his whole body. His best friend was violated. And hurt! It was unacceptable. He... he wanted to hurt someone.

Kyle suddenly hugged him tightly. "It's okay... it's not bad."

He gritted his teeth. "But they will assign you someone else… again… and again… no... I…" his whole body tensed up. he wanted to protect Kyle, but how?

He didn't have a weapon. He didn't know how to fight.

they were helpless.

Skyy gritted his teeth.

"Shh it's okay. I swear it's not that bad." Kyle tried his best to smile at him. "You should know I fought back. I threw a mean punch. That guy's nose is forever going to be crooked." He laughed out loud.

Skyy silently hugged him. "We should leave… this is not living."

"We will leave. soon," he gazed away out the window, subtly wiping his eyes. "What were you saying? Something about being Chinese? What is this?"

Skyy wordlessly looked out the window.

"Skyy…"

"I can't calm down... I feel my blood boiling." his eyes were starting to hurt and everything came in and out of focus.

"Hey, you okay?" Kyle cupped his face tightly. "Your eyes… god..." he hugged his face into his chest. "Skyy something is wrong with your eyes. Calm down please..." he begged in a whisper.

Skyy growled. "I'm trying… everything looks weird."

"shhh... just listen to my heartbeat."

He took a deep breath and listened to his best friend's strong heartbeat. Slowly, his racing heart calmed down. "I'm good now,"

Kyle pulled at his face and took a closer look. "oh my god your eyes are back to normal. What was that…"

"don't know... did it look weird?"

"No, it looked pretty," Kyle whispered ever so softly.

Soon the bell rang loudly.

[The maintenance has been completed. all personnel please return to your respective chambers.]

Skyy gripped Kyle's hand tightly. "I don't want to go…"

"You should."

"No, they will assign you again." He panicked again. "What if they hurt you again… I don't want to go,"

"Skyy!" Kyle grabbed his head tightly. "Listen to me. You must follow the rules to survive… one day… one day we will leave this place. Then we can live freely. For that, we need to stay alive."

"No…" Skyy bit his lips anxiously until they bled.

"Now go, we will be alright." Kyle suddenly shoved something in his palm in secret. "Go,"

Clutching the crumbled paper, Skyy left for his room.

He hurriedly hid in bed and opened the paper. On it was an awkwardly drawn route map that led to the escape rooms. "We will leave this place." Kyle had scribbled on.

Skyy smiled. "Yes, we will."
