Child of Destiny

1139 The Guidance from the Head Priestess

...

"I may not be at the peak of everything yet, but I already have a glimpse of that state. Moreover, I am also skilled in terms of fortune telling and in the aspect of seeing through the true heart."

"I dare to say, that only three people can match me in this field. And even they cannot guarantee that they can totally best me in this aspect."

It was rare for someone of her status to boast this kind of thing, but based on what she could see from the karmic lines surrounding Shin, she knew that she had to give him a little help for the little guy to find the right path.

Shin stared at the Head Priestess with a curious look. He could not read what the latter was thinking but he could at least feel that she was treating him well and genuinely wanted to help him.

He was confused and curious at the same time, so he asked. "It seems like the Head Priestess is treating me well. Can I ask why is that the case?"

The Head Priestess gave him a profound smile before replying. "In this world, there are countless stars showing their brilliance in the sky. But some become blinded by their own brilliance while the others feel due to walking down the wrong."

"As someone, who represents the will of high above, it is naturally my job to guide these lost stars back to the right path."

Shin began pondering the words that the Head Priestess had said to him. Those might be simple yet profound words, but he could sense an even deeper meaning behind them. He could tell that she was trying to convey more insights with it.

Regardless, he could not dwell any deeper in her words as given his current realm and mentalism attainments. So, he did not have a choice but forget about them for the time being.

Instead, he proceeded on asking for guidance in the path of Mentalism. "Earlier, the Head Priestess said to guide me in the path of Mentalism? This junior indeed has some problems and encounter some confusion previously. Can I trouble the Head Priestess to answer them?"

Shin was still hesitating about this, but after seeing how genuine the Head Priestess was, he chose to gamble and decided to ask some of his doubts.

The Head Priestess nodded her head and smiled. "Continue."

Shin hesitated once again before finally voicing out his thoughts. "I have a peculiar case when it comes to my Mental Energy-…"

He was still in the middle of talking when the Head Priestess suddenly cut in when she saw him hesitating. "It must be about you, being able to wield the power of Divinity Grade Mental Energy despite your weak realm."

Hearing those words, Shin could not help but become stunned. He was staring blankly at the Head Priestess full of disbelief. He did not remember showing the strength of his Mental Energy up until now, so it was impossible for her to figure that out that easily.

The only time he utilized his mental energy was when he was activating the talisman on his hands. But even then, he only used a normal form of energy as a form of cautiousness. He was not planning to reveal the real strength of his Mental Energy unless it was in the middle of a desperate battle just like when he was fighting against Shaun previously.

"Little one, with my expertise, seeing through the secrets of your realm is as simple as breathing," said the Head Priestess with a slight chuckle.

Then Shin continued. "According to my Senior Brother, who is also possessed the same level of Mental Energy since birth, someone has to put some restraint on our strengths before unsealing them step by step until we reach a certain level of attainment."

"Our bodies have to be trained properly too in order to host such an overwhelming power. If not, then we are only harming ourselves if we forcefully control it."

He then paused and raised his hand and summoned his mental energy in a form of a flame. "But it looks like I am completely different compared to them. I can well this Divinity Grade Mental Energy properly despite my lack of realm and attainment in the path of mentalism."

"Though, I also can't utilize its true power and full potential due to the same reason," he added with a sigh.

The Head Priestess maintained her gentle smile before continuing. "It must be because of your bloodline."

Those might be simple words, but they shocked Shin greatly. He knew that he had a special bloodline but according to his masters and his Uncle Nathan, it could only provide him a monstrous and inexhaustible willpower as well as a special physique such as the 'Spiritual Embryo'.

"My Bloodline?" asked Shin full of doubt.

The Head Priestess nodded her head gently. "Yes. It is because of your bloodline."

She paused for a moment before continuing. "It is understandable for the seniors in your home to not be aware of it since this bloodline of yours is somewhat special. And it is also not recorded in the history of Mentalism."

"This is the first time in history to have such a bloodline," she added, emphasizing her point.

"First time in the history?" Shin muttered as he fell into thought.

The Head Priestess nodded. "That is right, the first time in history. And from what I can deduce, one of your parents, the one who passes down this bloodline to you, must have awakened the true potential of their bloodline and even nurture it into an unimaginable level."

"They must have reached a realm of their own in the path of Mentalism," she added. Her words could not hide her admiration for that person. As someone who was also walking the same path, she could not help but be amazed by the latter.

After a brief pause, she continued. "This Bloodline of yours may not have any kind of powerful offensive properties, nor the great enhancements that the other type of bloodlines can provide. But it can at least provide you the perfect vessel and overwhelming willpower that can aid you in the path of Mentalism."

"In this path, those two aspects were the most important aside from your comprehension. It also can help you wield the highest form of Mental Energy after your vessel became accustomed to it."

"You may not be able to wield its powers when you are still an infant, thus leading to them sealing a portion of powers. But now that you have enough foundation, releasing it partially will not be a problem."

Shin started contemplating her words little by little before finally focusing on a single point. "My parents."

Up until now, he was still not aware of the identity of his parents. But from his observation, his masters and the elders at home seemed to know about them. But at the same time, they were still hiding it from him for some unknown reason.

There was also the matter that his Senior Brother was hiding. And after putting two and two together, he could at least deduce a couple of things.

But he knew that it was still not the time for it. At least, not until he talked with the alter ego living within him again.

'It can still wait,' he thought before continuing to ask for guidance. "So, it is because I've attained my current control over my Mental Energy."

He paused before continuing. "Head Priestess, aside from my powerful Mental Energy, there are also the peculiarities of its nature."

"I am usually asked about this by my Mentalism Master, but Old Fatty is currently somewhere and busying himself with whatever mission he has, so I can't ask for some guidance. What an irresponsible master!"

"I am also originally planning some guidance from the experts within our aca-… our place. But this mission suddenly comes up and I don't have the opportunity anymore."

"Since the Head Priestess is already here, please enlighten me."

The Head Priestess giggled as she found Shin amusing. She did not care about how he addressed and reprimanded his master, or how he was still trying to hide the fact that he was actually from the academy despite knowing her capabilities.

She just laughed and continued to listen.

"Recently, I've accidentally awakened the innate attribute of my Mental Energy, but it seems like it is not yet completed," continued Shin before pausing as he summoned his Mental Energy once again before transforming it into a gorgeous flame.

He then looked at the Head Priestess and waited for her answer.

Seeing that, the Head Priestess finally responded. "Awakening the innate attribute of our respective energies is not that easy. But it is also quite simple at the same time."

She paused for a moment and stared at Shin. "It is as simple as the word 'Unification'. It is the unification of your true nature as well as your discipline. Once these two come together and reach a certain level of unification, then you will naturally awaken your 'true' attribute."

"Attributes can be determined from one another. It can be related to the aspect of elements or the other for forms of profound laws and mysteries."

"What you need to do is to wait patiently for that time to happen."

She took another pause as her eyes slightly glowed while looking at Shin. She seemed to be able to see through all the secrets of his body before continuing. "What I am more curious about is the fact that you are unaware of the 'extra' nature of your Mental Energy."

"Extra nature of my Mental Energy?" repeated Shin with a confused tone.

The Head Priestess nodded her head and continued. "Mn. It is a special 'nature' that only those with Divinity Grade Mental Energy innately have."

"In other places and beliefs, they call this 'extra nature' – Gifts. 'Mentalism Gifts' to be exact," she added before staring at Shin with a profound gaze. "As for you – you possessed the most powerful and most mysterious gift, yet also the most dangerous one."

"Devour. The Gift of Devouring."
