Child of Destiny
1133 Desperate Predicament (Part 2)
...
Shin stood in the middle of the group as everyone get in formation. They stared in the direction where the chaotic and rapid footsteps were coming from while getting ready for the battle.
Not long after they finally saw a large number of silhouettes that were charging at them at a rapid pace. And when they got a clear look at what those silhouettes were, they could not help but have a much solemn expression on their faces.
"What are those?"
"They are neither humans nor monsters."
"Mutated beings?"
"From the auras that they are emitting, they seem to be very strong."
These members were the elite clubs that were quite experienced as they already took a number of missions from the academy and even accepted some commissions from certain sources, this was not their first time encountering such a situation.
Moreover, when those mutated humans got closer to them, they quickly spotted that these ones had a lot of similarities with Shaun, who underwent a mutated transformation earlier. They quickly realized that these monsters were most likely the same.
Tir, the leader of his club, was currently standing fearlessly at the forefront of the formation. He tightly gripped the axes in his hands while shouting. "They are coming, ready yourselves!"
Hearing his words, the rest of the group quickly held their respective weapons tightly while glaring at the incoming group of mutated humans.
Bang!
Swoosh!
Then, suddenly, Tir kicked the ground and lunged forward with great momentum. He crossed his arms in front of him during his charge. And when he was about to reach the mutated humans, he suddenly stomped on the ground before swinging the two axes horizontally.
Bang!
Boom!
A shockwave was produced right after his stomp, making the mutated humans lose their balance and stumble a little. Then a strong gust of wind quickly followed and pushed the opposing side back, making them unable to advance further.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
Right after that, a series of swooshing sounds quickly followed as the elite students followed his charge. All of them were covered by their respective energies as they brushed past Tir and brandished their weapons at these mutated humans.
A chaotic fighting quickly broke out!
The members of the Warrior College and the Martial and Mentalism Union were the ones who were leading the charge. These two rivals and opposing clubs that always fought against each other within the academy every time they met were now fighting side-by-side.
They showcased their strong might and overwhelming fighting spirit as they advanced forward. They were not going to let these monsters advance and harm those injured students behind them.
And if there were a few that managed to bypass them, the members of the Student Assistant Association quickly took care of them.
The three elite clubs worked together with Julieta and Tir taking the lead. Even Lester, who was quite heavily injured was giving out orders one after another.
This chaotic battle continued with their side having a huge advantage. But not long after, everyone realized a serious problem. These mutated monster humans were not as simple as it seems. The ones that they thought that had already been taken care of were standing one after another with their bodies constantly recovering at a visible rate.
Even the ones with blasted heads and huge holes where their hearts were located were standing up and recovering their injuries.
They looked like undying zombies that could not be killed. And it was in a much worse sense!
Tir and Julieta were wearing dark expressions when they saw that. They realized that their situation was getting worse with every passing second.
Lester, who was at the rear along with the injured students, had a clear vision of what was happening. And when he realized what was going on, he quickly informed the others. "There must be a core in their bodies. It is impossible for them to be undying creatures! They must be like those Demonic and Evil Practitioners that had a core to regenerate themselves continuously!"
The rest quickly figured this out and started looking for those cores. But at the same time, something unexpected happened.
The mutated monster humans seemed to have understood his words and started fighting cautiously while crazily trying to advance. It seemed like they would do everything to advance further.
With this swamp of enemies that was continuously charging at them in a crazy manner, the pressure that the elite students were getting was increasing as the battle progressed. Especially when they heard more footsteps rushing in their direction.
They all knew that they would be in complete danger if they could not eliminate this first batch of mutated monster humans before the next group arrived.
Shin, who was fighting among the members of the Student Assistant Associations in the middle of the formation, had a clearer look at the battlefield compared to the rest. Especially when his Spiritual Sense was covering this somewhat narrow corridor.
Through his perception range, he could 'see' more clearly after focusing on a certain direction. He observed the battlefield with a calm gaze while closely looking at a few mutated monster humans through his 'True Sight' ocular skills.
He was peering through their bodies and observing the movements of their energies as he tried to look for the core.
But to his surprise, he could not find the thing that he was looking for. This mutated monster humans seemed to not have any core, nor a place where their energies were centered.
"Strange," he muttered as he instead discovered something odd.
First were the clothes that these mutated monster humans were wearing. From their initial assessment, they suspected at these mutated monster humans were the failed experimental subjects of the organization.
But after looking at their overwhelming number, he discovered that it was much larger than the number of rooms that he saw in the prison area where the captives were located.
The number of these mutated monster humans was supposedly limited but from the looked of it, they seemed to be much more than what he had estimated.
Given that, Shin quickly swept his gaze at the others and discovered something more concerning. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the clothes were wearing were much similar to the guards of the laboratory.
He recognized it quickly despite them being in a ragged state because Leonard was currently wearing one.
"Guards? The guards also underwent a mutated transformation?" muttered Shin with a solemn tone as he realized this. And because of that, their situation became even more dangerous.
"If that is the case, then the next batch of mutated monsters will lead to our demise," he muttered as he quickly recognized the seriousness of their current predicament.
The moment Shin recognized this fact, the three club presidents, Lester, Julieta, and Tir also realized this fact. This made them wear a much solemn expression on their faces as they think for a solution as fast as they could.
At the same time, Shin also discovered something more.
It was the strange behavior of the mutated monster humans.
From what he could see, it seemed like these guys were not trying to engage in a battle with them purposely. But they were instead forced to fight them as they struggled to advance.
At first, they thought that it was because these mutated monster humans were targeting the injured members that were stationed at the furthest part of their formation. But upon closer inspection, Shin quickly realized that it seemed to be not the case.
From what he could see, these guys were trying to advance and were forced to fight them because they wanted to reach the deeper parts of the laboratory.
Thinking about this, Shin suddenly remembered the deafening and eerie roar that shook the entire place earlier. And when he observed the actions of the mutated monster humans even further, he could help but think that it was most likely the case.
"Are they being summoned?" he thought to himself before quickly coming to a realization.
He swiftly turned to Lester and shouted. "Senior, break the walls on your side and lead the injured seniors inside!"
The others who heard him could not help but glance in his direction as they listened to his next words.
"It seems like these monsters are not targeting us. It seems like they are being summoned by the roar earlier, so they are heading toward that direction!"
Everyone was confused at first but upon thinking about it and observing the movements of the mutated monster humans much closer, seeing the crazy behaviors that they were showing, the students could not help but agree with Shin.
Realizing this, the three club presidents quickly got into action.
Lester ordered the guys to proceed. "Quick! Tear down those walls and lead the injured inside!"
Julieta also gave out her orders. "Protect them! Do let anyone of these filthy creatures reach them!"
Tir suddenly roared. "Boys, on me! We are going to stop these ugly bastards until our brothers are safe!"
Everyone quickly sprung into action and swiftly executed the orders to the best of their abilities.
Everything was going smoothly as the entire group worked together. They were about to succeed until, at some point, something unexpected suddenly happened and caught everyone completely off-guard!
