Gu Mengmeng remained dumbfounded for a long while before finally saying, “Does this mean I am spoiling Auretin’s chance for lifelong happiness? No, no, I won’t let him come over for meals anymore…”

Elvis sighed. “It will be as good as abandoning him if you do that. Although he is not your partner, his current status has already been acknowledged by the rest of the Beast World. Even if you don’t want him… no other female will accept him now. Anyway, food is more important than females to Auretin. So if you don’t allow him to come over for meals… that would be really destroying his lifelong happiness.”

“Damn.” Gu Mengmeng squatted down despondently. “How come I feel like I have defiled a decent lady?”

Elvis lifted Gu Mengmeng into his arms. “You might feel uncomfortable referring to him as a guardian beast. Let’s put it another way. Do you remember mentioning about concubines, performers and bodyguards? Auretin is more or less a bodyguard who has sold himself into our family. We eat and live together. He helps you to subdue others. Both sides are willing parties and no one forced the other into this arrangement. There’s no way you are defiling him. Anyway, if you really wish to ‘defile’ a male, you still have Lea, your performer and me, your concubine, waiting in the ranks. It won’t be his turn anytime soon.”

Gu Mengmeng blinked and turned to look at the Beast Deity. “So the majority of Wang Xiaoxin’s 172 partners were just hired thugs and not true partners? She only had four real partners, right?”

The Beast Deity shook his head. “Wang Xiaoxin only acknowledged one partner, Wales. The remaining three… can be considered as lovers.”

Gu Mengmeng was once again speechless. She herself also had two partners and had no right to scorn or mock at Wang Xiaoxin. But even if Gu Mengmeng followed Wang Xiaoxin’s example and accepted over a hundred men without really engaging in any husband-wife activities with them—just hearing them being called “the men of Gu Mengmeng’s household” made her feel embarrassed.

The Beast Deity cleared his throat. “Gregory… has fallen in love with you. Can’t you accept him like how you accepted Lea, but treat him like how you treat Auretin? Just give him a chance to stay by your side and take care of you. You can keep him if you do end up developing feelings for him in future, otherwise just treat him as another hired thug. There’s nothing bad in that. Anyway, he is very capable and won’t be a burden to you. In fact, he will be able to supplement your dining table and bring you food that even Elvis and Lea can’t get for you. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

Gu Mengmeng paused for a couple of seconds before blinking at the Beast Deity. “Daddy, tell me the truth. Did you receive some kickback from Gregory? You are behaving so strangely today. You keep speaking up for him and trying all sorts of arguments to get me to accept him.”

“Did… did I? Ha… haha… you are thinking too much. No… definitely not…” The Beast Deity looked to the side sheepishly.

“No? If that’s true, what are you being so sheepish about?” Gu Mengmeng circled to his side to meet his eyes again. “Tell me the truth. You know that deities cannot lie.”
