Chapter 1386
Chapter 1386: Angel of Misery (Part 2)
Within the Lightning Territory, dozens of lightning warriors gathered and took the initiative to assemble into even larger lightning warriors. All were puppet incarnations. The astonishing thing is that this transformation took place without Saleen's command.
This was instinctual. After Dante became a god, these lightning warriors would eventually turn into angels.
They were both angels; however, the demi-angels created by Fycro suffered a tragic fate. Without a god, they were orphans.
Our god has already died, and we're just withering in the light…
From the depths of the light, a singing voice was transmitted. It was from some demi-angels created from human souls. These people were Fycro's devout disciples. To help him gain experience in creating angels, Fycro used them for experimentation. The result: demi-angels.
Demi-angels had no glory. Without their god, they had no way to live forever.
Their lifespan was only a bit longer than before being manufactured into demi-angels. When Fycro was still present, he could revive them in the light after their lifespan had come to an end. Each time they were revived, their lifespan shortened. Finally, their angel's core would shatter—and that would be the end of them.
The interminable singing voice filled the air. Hearing it, the demi-angels each spread their tattered wings and increased their charging speed. If they were not killed and had to continue to bitterly wait in this holy light, it would be pure agony.
"Abyss of Light, this is a god's divine kingdom. It's just that it has been fragmented." Rafel identified the essence of the Abyss of Light. Because these demi-angels were in a fragmented divine kingdom, without Fycro there was no way for them to leave.
They had to continuously endure all types of pain, but they could not die.
Without food, they would starve. As they became crazy from starvation, they would cannibalize their own kind and receive the punishment of the holy light. If they did not manage to eat, they would have to bear relentless starvation.
These demi-angels had lived long enough, but Saleen and his party were in a hurry. Their power was so weak that Saleen could not even be bothered to slay them. Thus, the demi-angels directly attacked Saleen, and surrounding him and leaving him stranded.
This they did not for the sake of killing the enemy but for obtaining their release.
Could the demi-angels commit suicide? No, they could not. Fycro's teachings shared the same origins as the Lord of Glory and did not permit suicide. If they did so anyway, the punishment received by a soul would be even more miserable. They had to continue suffering within the Abyss of Light.
They could not die, yet they did not want to live. This was the life of the demi-angels.
Without a doubt, Saleen was Fycro's enemy. The demi-angels could smell the scent of an enemy. This was their instinct. If they died at the enemy's hands, at the very least their souls could obtain release.
Numerous demi-angels were killed by the lightning warriors. Saleen did not make any more moves. There was no need for him to waste any scrolls or magic nuclei for the sake of these pitiful beings.
The lightning warriors surrounded Saleen, and the demi-angels surrounded the lightning warriors. When one wave fell, the next wave followed fearlessly.
They did not wish to attain victory at all. So what if they won? Their god had already fallen. They no longer held any hopes within their short lives.
Saleen harbored complex emotions as he gazed at the fall of the demi-angels.
There was practically no remaining godly power in their bodies. Even if there was a little, this was at odds with that absorbed by the powerful demi-angels within the holy light. This was not enough to fill their bellies at all.
Angels rarely starved, but demi-angels were inferior goods created by the gods. Everything- happiness and anger, joy and sorrow, life and death—would all have effects on the bodies of demi-angels.
For a faith they were coerced to follow, this was worth nothing. But what about those who voluntarily had faith?
"Rafel, do you miss the Metal God?" Saleen asked.
"Very much so. He is a good god."
"Gods are also separated into good and bad?" Saleen was tickled pink by Rafel's answer. Such words were hilarious to a mage.
"Of course." Rafel was not angry, and said, "Some gods only live for destruction. Some gods are self-sufficient and will not seize others' possessions at all."
"Then what did the Metal God live by?"
"Civilization."
"Civilization?"
"All civilized worlds will develop different types of tools. Those made from the very beginning might not use metals, but using metals for these is a kind of necessity. A fully constructed puppet is merely a representative object. The Metal God's faith, apart from supplying angels, also includes all powers that are affected by or use metals."
Saleen muttered to himself for a moment and understood. If a farmer used a sickle and hoe, he would have a sense of reliance on these tools. He might even treat these tools as a part of his family. The Metal God relied on such powers to live. In other words, he did not need to develop any disciples at all in order to maintain his godly power, and he was unlikely to fall.
How could there be a plane that had no agriculture? Even in the giant dragon's plane, the dragon race also used metal to create huge mechanical puppets to cultivate the land and livestock in their place. Such high-grade metal equipment and such a superior race would also unknowingly give power to the Metal God.
In some planes, certain civilizations were prosperous. They would even go to other continents to mine for metal. When the Myers Continent was at its peak power, the boots of humans had stepped all over the entire Crystal Wall system.
Apart from plunder, humans would also give the creatures of the subcontinental plane some skills, including all kinds of knowledge. This included alchemy. Furthermore, in the human world, the consumption of metals was exceptionally high. Within a puppet used for farming alone, there would be thousands of parts.
Of course, the biggest consumer of metals was war. In the midst of war, countless mineral veins were excavated, refined and crafted into weapons. These weapons were objects that soldiers relied on for survival. The emotions and hopes poured into them were even greater.
"In that case, he is indeed a good god. Rafel, what do you think. Is the Lord of Glory a good god?"
"No. When a god only permits one faith, it is not a good god."
"Who told you this?"
"Father god."
"Father god? Did he treat all of you as his children?"
"No, it was different. A god will not make sacrifices for angels, but humans would that for their children. But we're angels. We would not demand our gods to do so."
"Rafel, if the day comes when I go to war with a divine kingdom, will you help me or leave?"
Rafel smiled and said, "This had nothing to do with faith, identity, race and so on. I hate attacking divine kingdoms, that's all."
"Then I understand. If such a day comes, I won't bring you along."
"That is not necessarily the case. Perhaps your enemy will not just be the Lord of Glory. There are some gods that you will run into sooner or later."
After Saleen had advanced, his mind was active and he understood Rafel's words. The Metal God had definitely died at the hands of other gods. If he happened to attack the Metal God's enemies, Rafel would be willing to fight.
Saleen's rank was becoming higher and higher. He would eventually surpass Rafel. Rafel's true purpose was her incomparably rich battle experience.
Saleen needed to train his troops. He also wanted to train an army that was just like the angels. Most of these troops would have to die in battle in a foreign land. Saleen hoped he would be able to bring more of them back to the Myers Continent alive.
If he wanted them to live on, they would have to possess combat skills. Rafel's combat skills were best suited to training these troops.
For the army that Saleen yearned for in his heart, the elite troops needed to be level-9 professionals.
Level-9 professionals would be able to grasp some powerful skills, and it was even possible for them to injure pseudo gods. When a Golden Grand Swordmaster put all his effort into an attack, it would only do if the pseudo god had to rely on his equipment in order to defend against it. If they really relied on their god's body to block it, they would still be damaged.
Saleen did not need any troops. His plan was to allow the magic amplifier's Weapon's Spirit to become a god. This would give him three gods in his magic amplifier. When they were combined with Floating City in the end, they would become a godly item.
A true godly item could contain a godly item that was like a country.
Such a godly item could contain a great number of angels. Saleen did not require any troops, but if he wanted to oppose the Lord of Glory in the future, he would definitely need to eliminate the Lord of Glory's angel army. It would not do to rely on himself alone. He would also need a similar army.
While Saleen was killing off the demi-angels one by one, an oracle died suddenly in a concealed divine kingdom.
There would also be death in a divine kingdom. Perhaps this oracle had already lived for tens of millions of years. Such aging was inevitable. The Lord of Glory was not within this divine kingdom. This was one of the divine kingdoms that the Lord of Glory had seized. It was impossible for him to defend all of the divine kingdoms. And although he had not advanced to level-16, it was impossible for him to merge the divine kingdoms.
This divine kingdom had thus become a kingdom without a god.
The aged oracle's death had not been noticed by any surrounding gods. Within the divine kingdom, the gods, oracles, angels, as well as some civilian disciples all did not need to do any farming. Each day, they only had to praise the gods in order to avoid starvation or not be plagued by disease.
The difference was that oracles sometimes still had to go out to spread the god's teachings, and the angels had to participate in battles, whereas the civilian disciples only needed to live on. Praising the gods who really not a particularly laborious job, it was just deadly dull.
The death of this oracle followed typical common sense. The body would turn into pure light before being absorbed by the divine kingdom.
When the oracle died, nobody in his surroundings witnessed it. Only a powerful angel could sense the aura of death. In a divine kingdom, nobody would investigate such a matter at all. Each person would be living blissfully as much as possible and would not bother about the life and death of others.
The oracle had collapsed below a tree. An hour later, he suddenly turned over and sat up. He took a look at his body and was extremely pleased.
"Fortunately, I left a backdoor for myself in the beginning. Otherwise, if I wanted to revive myself, there is no way of knowing how long it would take. It's too bad my divine fire has been extinguished. If I want to reignite it, I will still need some time. The Lord of Glory also happens to be absent, and I can leisurely steal godly power. Heh, Saleen, I will return!"
The oracle raised his head and the flesh on his face twisted, turning into Fycro's appearance. On his forehead, an eye happened to be shut and it disappeared without a trace.
When this oracle had left the divine kingdom to carry out the Lord of Glory's assignment, he had been touched by Fycro and a soul thread had been left in his body. This soul thread was like a vampire, absorbing the oracle's power and causing the oracle to swiftly age. The resident soul, however, provided power to the oracle. The oracle had not felt the aging of his body either. Like this, his life had secretly been seized away by Fycro.
Only a pure god's body would allow Fycro to do something like this.
