Chapter 232 - Additional Game Modes

As the main source of entertainment of Minecraft came from creating, everything Chen Mo added to the game was built around creation.

First the game modes.

There were four game modes: Minecraft (Single player), Somebody else's world (Local Multiplayer), Everybody's world (Online mode), Chen Mo's world (observer mode.)

Single Player mode was just like the original, with Survival, adventure, and creative gamemodes, the players could experience all the game had to offer through these modes.

Just like Diablo, the players could open their single player worlds to allow other players to join either through random matching or specific invitations.

In local multiplayer mode, the host had rights to kick and mute players, as well as the ability to revert those changes.

In online mode, Chen mo hosted many servers, each able to fit ten thousand players with ten thousand km³ of explorable land.

This world wasn't a planet, but a galaxy.

All servers started off the same with identical maps, but players could make changes to the world as they wished. How the server ended up looking completely depended on the players.

With this many different servers change would result in the same amount of unique worlds.

The players could set up clans within servers, they could be peaceful or be hostile and attack or steal from other clans or even attack and destroy the buildings of the other clans.

Basically, servers may be able to world together towards a common goal or go at each other's throats and be in a constant state of chaos.

Players could visit Chen Mo's creations in Chen Mo's world, or observer mode, and couldn't make any changes.

Second, the construction trading system.

Chen Mo considered including a construction in the game to help the players who couldn't build at all. Moreover it could help the game generate some side revenue.

Chen Mo will build many different buildings in Chen Mo's world, some may be from real life such as ancient palaces, clock towers, cathedrals, twin towers, or even things from fantasy world such as Stormwind City, Bastion's Keep, or something more sci-fi such as Space Stations or Space elevators.

The blueprints of these buildings could be bought with a price, and the players would own the methods of building them forever. With enough resources, they could replicate these structures no matter in single or multiplayer mode.

Of course, the players could use their creativity and build completely original creations.

The players could release the blueprints for the buildings they built and others could purchase the blueprints from them (if there's anyone who's willing).

Third, the tech tree.

The tech tree was incredibly simple in the original Minecraft. Although the players could make computers using redstone, they couldn't make cars, planes, or spacecraft.

Chen Mo planned to include a full scale tech tree to allow players to build spacecraft to migrate into space.

(That's why online mode was a whole galaxy)

OF course, these tech trees wouldn't be the same as real life. For example, all special methods of transportations are composed of fuel, force generation units, control units, main ingredients, reinforcement materials and other components.

The force generation unit was akin to generators, control units are the control plans, main ingredients referred to the main material referred to what these methods of transport were mainly made of, and the reinforcement material made sure they wouldn't disintegrate when travelling at high speeds.

The players could craft any of these modes of transport as long as they had the right resources and arranged them in the right way.

(The players could customise them, but only how they look.)

Of course, things such as control units, fuel, required special materials, and the players would slowly explore how to craft them. The players would go through the experience of climbing the tech tree, starting from nothing and turning the world into a world filled with technology.

Moreover, the tech three also had an alchemy system. The players could receive various effects by brewing potions using various ingredients, such as the ability to survive in space.

Of course, the tech tree and the rest of the world have to be unlocked progressive over time. The players have to reach certain requirements to progress to the next stage as they slowly but surely leave their mother planet to the rest of the galaxy.

With these additional mechanics as well as a more completely new player introduction, Chen Mo believed that this VR Minecraft will be more attractive than the original!

The final stages of development were now on the agenda, the game could finally be considered complete with all these additional play styles added into the game.

The first beta test of Thousand Hells was also out.

As Thousand Hells had a lot more content than Minecraft, they'd test and review the feedback earlier, as abilities of various jobs, difficulties, and other relevant gameplay had to be tweaked to reach its full potential.

-Inside the world of Thousand Hells.

This was an ancient city that was in perpetual darkness. There are temples, shrines, and various ancient buildings. The towns were riddled with hopelessness, filled with monks practicing tapas[1], disease-ridden beggars, and struggling peasants.

Chen Mo picked a male human. He looked just like a normal human with a longbow behind him and a dagger at his waist, suggesting that he was a dangerous character.

He looked around as if he was looking for someone.

"Manager?"

Chen Mo turned around to find Lin Xue's female Heavens character behind him.

Lin Xue's character looked like a god with various weapons floating around her. She looked incredibly elegant as her clothing was completely spotless.

"You're here." said Chen Mo.

"Yeah, but I'm wondering how you become a beta tester. I thought only a few of Emperor Dynasty Entertainment's beta testers have a chance of getting a key?" asked Lin Xue.

"I paid for it of course. Lin Chaoxu wasn't going to give me a key even if I asked for one."

"… Fair point."

"Let's see how this game plays," said Chen Mo.

One after another, the two of them headed towards the massive gate to hell in the village.
