Cartier is a French watch and jewelry manufacturer founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier at 31 Rue Montorgueil in Paris. It is now a subsidiary company of Swiss Richemont Group (Compagnie Financière Richemont SA).

In 1874, his son Yafa Cartier inherited its management rights, and his grandsons Louis Cartier, Pierre Cartier and James Cartier developed it into a world-famous brand. In 1904, he designed the world's first wrist watch - Cartier Santos watch (Cartier Santos) for pilot Alberto Santos Domen.

In the 2018 list of the world's top 500 brands, Cartier ranked 110th.
