The quarrel between Trump and Twitter did divert some of the public's attention from the "Tonge Gate".

But in mid-August, what was coming still had to come.

Trump was impeached.

This is the second time the House of Representatives has passed a bill to impeach a president after former Presidents Johnson and Clinton, and he may become the third president to be impeached.

(PS: Nixon was also impeached in 1974, but he resigned on the eve of the House vote.)

Trump was put on the impeachment stage by the House of Representatives for "abuse of power" and "obstruction of congressional investigations."

The "manager" of the Democratic impeachment case in the House of Representatives submitted a summary of the case to the Senate that day, identifying the president's behavior as the "biggest nightmare" of the drafters of the American Constitution.

This time, there are 100 members of the House of Representatives participating in the impeachment, 53 of which are Republicans, and 47 of which are Democrats and two independent senators. This means that in the House of Representatives, the Democrats can easily pass the impeachment case against Trump, but it is almost impossible to pass it in the Senate.

As Republican lawmakers said: Trump may become the first American president in American history to return to the presidency after being wrongly impeached.

American C27NN called the impeachment crisis: "This will be the darkest day in America"!

The president's legal team responded to the House of Representatives' impeachment clause for the first time on the same day, identifying the impeachment clause as a "dangerous attack on the American people's freedom to choose their president."

In August 2019, a whistleblower claimed that Trump attempted to seek help from President Ukraine to discredit his political opponents during a phone call with President Ukraine in July.

American media reported that at least a week before calling the Ukrainian president, Trump told White House officials to hold off on providing nearly $400 million in military aid to Ukraine.

After the incident was exposed, Trump said that this move was due to concerns that the United States' aid to Ukraine exceeded that of European countries.

The personnel in charge of the impeachment investigation believed that this move was suspected of using power to put pressure on Ukraine and influence the 2020 election. Withholding military aid to Ukraine may also harm national security, and Trump tried to cover it up.

On August 19, Elijah Cummings, chairman of the House Oversight Committee of the U.S. Congress, threatened that if the White House did not hand over all the documents involved in the "Goose Gate" and "Threat to Ukraine Gate", he would issue a subpoena to the White House.

Cummings said that in order to further the impeachment investigation of President Trump, the White House was required to hand over all the documents involved before the 4th, otherwise a subpoena would be issued on the 4th.

On August 21, the American "Politics" website said that Trump regarded the White House leakers as "spies" and attacked the relevant reporters by name.

According to anonymous former White House officials, Trump hopes to give every White House staff a lie detector test to find out who leaked to the media.

And some White House employees also took the initiative to take a lie detector test to prove their innocence.

However, in the early days of Trump's administration, his ethics and moralsSpecial Counsel Basantino once led a study on whether it was legal to give polygraphs to White House employees, and the conclusion was "no".

Afterwards, the U.S. House Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena to U.S. Energy Secretary Rick Perry, asking him to submit documents related to the "phone call gate" incident between U.S. President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky to cooperate with the House's impeachment investigation against Trump.

The subpoena was issued by the House Intelligence Committee after consultation with the Foreign Affairs Committee and the Oversight and Reform Committee, requiring Perry to submit relevant documents before August 29.

According to media reports, Trump called Zelensky on July 25 at Perry's suggestion.

Democrats also asked Perry to explain the media's claim that he had pressured Ukraine to adjust the advisory board members of a state-owned energy company.

Three days later, Trump announced that Energy Secretary Rick Perry would resign from his current position at the end of the year.

Trump said he had found a new candidate for the position and would announce it in the near future.

As one of the key figures in the "phone gate" incident, Perry is the target of Trump's "enemies". Trump once told the media that he spoke to Ukrainian President Zelensky at Perry's request.

Perry also said that he had asked Trump to speak to Zelensky many times, but the content only involved energy cooperation and had nothing to do with Democratic presidential candidate Biden.

Obviously, Trump asked Perry to step down in order to "sacrifice the pawn to save the chariot".

The impeachment case should be the biggest crisis since Trump took office.

Trump was a little panicked, but not too panicked. The old man's hooligan habits came out, and he openly shouted at his subordinates in the White House office:

"I know there are their people among you, I don't care. Now what I want to say, I hope some of you will hear it. If I am impeached and stepped down, I will drag them down with me. You should know that I am not joking, I can do anything..."

That night, Ivanka and Martin talked on the phone.

"Don't worry about your father, he will not step down, this is just a "warning". The Senate is the world of the Republicans. Even if they don't like your father, they will not let your father step down in such an embarrassing way. What's more, there is no substantial evidence for the so-called "Ukraine Phone Gate" and "Goose Gate"..." Martin vowed.

"Are you sure?"

Trump's voice came from the other end of the phone. Obviously, this guy has been on the phone.

Martin knew it a long time ago, and smiled when he heard it: "I won't lie to you. By the way, since you have expressed a tough attitude, you must be tough to the end and never cut off contact with Ukrainian, so as not to be considered guilty. Also, since they strongly ask you to release the information, you should release it. Some unimportant things can be released, mainly to give an explanation to the public. I will let the media cooperate."

"Haha, that's great." Trump laughed.

TwoA few days later, Trump told the media, "I am happy to invite Ukrainian President Zelensky to visit the White House, and I believe he will accept my invitation. Then you will know that all this is slander against me. I did not put pressure on Ukraine during the call. The Democratic Party's impeachment investigation against me is "political persecution", and Zelensky will testify for me in person."

A few days later, Zelensky really spoke out. When he attended the United Nations General Assembly, he told the American media: "I have never thought of getting involved in the American election, and no one has put pressure on me. Ukraine is an independent country, and Trump is a good person."

Then Trump said that he would release several records of his calls with Ukrainian President Zelensky next Tuesday - this call took place in June last year, before the key call that triggered the president's impeachment investigation.

"I am innocent, and the facts will prove everything." Trump vowed.
