1. Writing background

The poem was written in 1946. World War II had just ended. Paris was still in ruins. People were busy rebuilding and trying to restore their original peaceful life.

Jacques Prévert liked gardens, women, smoking, and poetry. One morning these things came together. He was smoking a cigarette and walking in the park. He saw a pair of young people kissing. At this moment, he thought of something and wrote this poem.

Pleville was 46 years old at the time and had been divorced for 11 years. After dating several lovers, he had yet to find his final destination. When he saw this scene in the park, it reminded him of his wife who grew up together. They had their childhood sweethearts and their attempts at love. The park reminded him of the sweetness of the past. Good memories are also a kind of beauty. He enjoyed it and looked forward to it.

2. Poetry Analysis

Section 1

Time focuses on one point from infinity to highlight the unforgettable moment. What unfolded at that moment was a picture of a pair of teenagers hugging and kissing on a park bench.

""Thousands of years and thousands of years" (desmillier set des milliers d'années), using two time periods to express the length of time, and the two approximate numbers"des" (des) also express the beginning and end of time.

""Thousands of years" (desmilliers) can be understood as the period of time together, and"et" (et) is also a very long period of time after leaving (with his wife). The preciousness of that moment is highlighted through superposition. The author is recalling , with a hint of regret.

The two"ji"s, the first"ji" expresses the ambiguity about the starting point of time, and the second one expresses the ambiguity about the end of time. The linking word"again" emphasizes the tone, no matter how much time passes. , cannot be forgotten

""That Eternal Moment" (Lapetite secondedéternité) is the scene of a teenage couple experiencing love for the first time. It may be their first kiss, or even a secret kiss between two thieves. In short, the scene at this moment is so pure and beautiful that it makes people happy. In the world of love, this For teenagers, it is still a blank paper. The first kiss draws many strokes on it. No matter how many emotions they experience when they grow up, it will not be too obvious what they want to draw. This moment will remain in their memory forever.

"eternal"(éternité) converts time from objective to subjective, and uses superimposed objective time to express subjective perception."I want to say" (pourdire) does not explicitly tell the person. It is the sweet memories in my heart that I am telling others. Through my own memories, I also let people enjoy the beautiful moments.

"At that moment you held me and I held you"(OùtumasembrasséOùjetaiembrassée), share together, only by sharing happiness can you get more happiness.

Section 2:

In the same picture, the words"morning" (matin) and"sunshine" (lumière) in the first sentence perfectly transition and focus time on the natural space. Space is slowly expanding, from the Montsouris Garden in Paris to Paris, then to the earth, and finally to the universe."Morning" meanwhile alludes to the hazy period of teenage love."Winter" (hiver) implies that the lovers put aside all bold pursuit of love in the environment at that time (the environment of the times or the social environment or even their own environment). It also seems to imply that the road ahead will be long and may not be smooth sailing. The author uses the environment to highlight people's desire for love. But the word"sunshine" gives another hope..

Finally, the"star" (astre) in the sky combines space and time, reflecting the"thousands of years" at the beginning of the poem. The sunshine that exists on the cold earth nurtures love. The expansion of space makes people feel that no matter where they are in the city or the fields, the vast space does not make love small. Love is like the stars in the sky, full of energy. Even the universe cannot drown out the twinkle of love, and no amount of time can erase the memory of beautiful love. The only punctuation at the end, the full stop, shows the firmness in pursuit.

3. Deep understanding

The structure of the poem is ABBAA, except for the repetition of the last two sentences of the first stanza. The expression technique is relatively unique, using objective nature to express subjective emotions, and using time and space to express love. Time gathers from far away, space expands from small, and finally time and space converge on the painting to express the pure beauty and preciousness of this moment. In the vast space and time, love is like a beautiful hope that will never disappear.

Under the wave of surrealism, literati always place their beauty in illusion, and the author is no exception. The author expresses his expectations for the beauty of the past and the beauty of the future through the memory of his first kiss. The poem calls on people to pursue beauty, and vaguely expresses the disgust for chaos. There should be love between people, and they should pursue love. Because we are on the same land, belong to the same planet, and have a common home
